In addition, this era was defined by globalization through international trade agreements like NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs & Trade). It also saw tensions arise between East & West during Cold War between Communist nations like China & Russia versus Democracies like USA & Western Europe Countries. These tensions led to proxy wars around world where countries fought each other using local forces instead direct military action due fear of nuclear arms race or all-out war destroying entire planet’s population along with it. All these events shaped not only US but entire world’s political landscape for decades come afterwards. Overall, the 1940s and 1950s were important decades for American history because they saw tremendous economic growth along with significant technological progress that transformed our lives today along with social changes that helped shape our current society into what it is now.
