People enjoy being frightened because fear releases endorphins, adrenaline, and dopamine in our brains, which makes us feel good. However, if we experience fear in an environment in which we are not certain we are safe, or after being traumatized, it isn’t as positive an experience, even though the chemical reaction happening inside of us is the same. People have both avoiding and enjoying being scared for centuries, so how the individual feels about fear is really based on their preferences.
