a) The souls in these two poems are similar because they are independent and have their own agency. In “The Soul selects her own Society” the soul is solely a positive part of the being, but in “The Soul unto itself” the soul can be positive or negative.
b) I think Dickinson views the soul as part of every body and that the soul is what makes us good or bad, though it may not be our own fault if our souls are bad, they have their own agency.
