ion acquired from various concerned groups, the usage of marijuana in public has greatly increased. likely age group to say they have tried marijuana. Those young adults let’s say aged between 18 to 29 are the most likely to indicate they currently smoke it. It was clear from statistics that 47% to 30%, men are more likely than women to say they have tried smoking or using marijuana.

Marijuana smoking has been viewed differently in the community; this however depends on the group. This has also caused different reaction between groups. According to the local police, they viewed marijuana smoking as a big crime in their state .This is despite the legalization of marijuana in some neighboring states. According to a senior police officer, marijuana smoking or smuggling is as serious crime as that of murder and attracts a jail term of not less than seven months in prison or a fine of up to $10000 or even both. On the other side, the doctors viewed marijuana smoking as a less offence towards the community (Appelbaum, 2007). They argued that to some point, marijuana is used of medicinal value. However they gave a disclaimer that marijuana should only be used for medicinal value and not a drug to make someone high.

The police said to be doing their best to curb and stop marijuana smoking. They were doing all they can do to ensure that marijuana smoking will come to an end smoking. Police are trying to control marijuana smoking by being ruthless to those caught executing the crime. They had increased the jail terms and the fine depending on the amount the convict was caught in possession. On the side of doctors, they advised on responsible usage of marijuana (Akers, 1985).

They advised that marijuana should not be used before work or school, unless you have a valid medical reason to do so. They also advised that marijuana smokers should try and respect others. They thought the best way to respect others is by not smoking in designated areas. These will reduce the number of police cases at large.

It can be concluded that marijuana smoking has been rejected by the law enfocers. These makes the social community to view it as a deviant behavior. At the same time, marijuana has medicinal value and therefore recommended for use by those on medical fields. In general marijuana smoking is deviant act and should only be used for medicinal value.
