The importance of information technology in education has been acknowledged since ancient times. Education involves the transfer of knowledge from teachers to students, utilizing scientific advancements available during that era. In earlier times, tools like abacus and pebbles were used to teach basic science and mathematics, representing the technology of that period. Experts in specific fields facilitated education in those respective areas.

Similar practices existed during the Middle Ages, where apprenticeship was a means of educating individuals in traditional occupations and scholarly studies. Monks who were respected scholars at that time guided pupils in their studies.
