Introduction

A hotel is a paid lodging establishment that offers accommodations. In the past, hotels provided basic rooms with simple furniture, but now they offer rooms with en-suite bathrooms and climate control. Many hotels use computer systems to enhance efficiency in their operations. While some companies have fully automated their processes, others aim to achieve the same level of automation.

Computer programmers have the task of creating computer systems that can be used by everyone. They give users instructions and develop programs that are easy to understand. The introduction of new technology has greatly enhanced convenient and hassle-free communication among people.

Automation is widely used in various fields today, including business and science, to enhance the quality and speed of tasks. Computer systems are highly efficient and accurate, leading to their widespread adoption in many systems. One such system that utilizes automation is the "Hotel Reservation Sys

tem," a transaction processing system that offers numerous advantages compared to manual hotel reservations.

Background of the Study

This study aims to investigate why some hotels still rely on manual reservation systems despite the availability of computerized alternatives. The proponents have observed this trend and seek to understand its impact on operations. Additionally, they intend to explore the replacement of manual systems with computerized reservation systems.

Therefore, the proponents aimed to investigate ways to increase customer numbers using computerized reservation systems. The technological availability of the time and place has always been linked to interaction and individual stimulation. With the transition to an information-based society, computers and transactions have evolved from manual processes. To address the issues facing hotels, a system was developed that could edit, delete, filter, monitor, and securely store customer

records. This system is known as the hotel reservation system which is a transaction processing system that solves the problems encountered during manual hotel reservations. The primary goal of this computerized hotel reservation system is to simplify and expedite the manual hotel reservation process.

The objective of the project is to use various tools and techniques to make the database accessible on the World Wide Web (WWW), incorporating a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for better user-computer interaction. The main focus of implementing this system is to address issues commonly encountered in Hotel Reservation. Dotties Place Hotel, the designated client, offers a peaceful and pleasant environment with rooms that provide an appealing view of the swimming pool and hotel premises.

Dotties Place Hotel is situated at J.C. Aquino Ave., Butuan City 8600, Philippines.

Issue Description

Currently, numerous travelers opt to make their accommodation reservations online due to the comfort and convenience it offers. Booking can be effortlessly completed with a simple click, making it highly convenient for travelers.

Online booking offers numerous advantages that cannot be ignored. This study aims to assist hotels that still rely on manual hotel reservations and help travelers in making hotel bookings. Additionally, it will enhance the hotel's promotion in a wider geographic region, providing them with a competitive advantage over their counterparts. Unfortunately, not all hotels have adopted an online reservation system, leading to problems and inconvenience for both the management and travelers.

The researchers conducted interviews and identified several problems in the hotel reservation system. These problems include misspelled personal information, potential loss of guest records, inconvenience for guests during the reservation process, and delays in generating reports.

The objective of this study

is to develop an online hotel reservation system that allows guests to reserve rooms through the internet. The specific goals of this development are to provide accurate guest information, establish a centralized record for efficient management, and offer convenience by facilitating reservations and displaying room availability. Additionally, the system aims to generate generic reports for management updates.

This study holds significance as it improves the reservation process for both guests and front desk officers, providing greater convenience. Furthermore, it benefits hotel owners and staff by increasing profits. The online study will increase the geographical reach and result in a consistent sales growth.

Customer convenience will also be emphasized as they will have the ability to make transactions anytime, anywhere.

Scope and Limitation

The scope of this study is to provide a user-friendly website through a computerized system that allows businesses to track services and ensure accurate and reliable processes for every transaction. This includes functionalities such as hotel reservations to find available rooms, checking room availability, deleting and adding records, as well as searching records. However, printing records is not covered by this study. Additionally, due to limited funds, this study cannot have its own domain. It is important to note that this research is solely for educational purposes.

Include

The study focused on developing a universal online hotel reservation system that allows guests to check room availability, register, and protect against web spiders with a Captcha. It also enables online payment for hotels with down payment options, including the ability to scan and upload bank receipts. For hotels without down payments, guests can make payment upon arrival.

First, there are two forms that

need to be completed. One is the Guest Registration Form, which asks for the guest's name, address, age, gender, and status. The other form is the Guest Room Inquiry and Reservation Form, which provides information about room availability, arrival date, and check-in date.

Dependency

The system operates in a client-server environment where the hotel functions as the server-side and the guest acts as the client. The server manages reservation confirmation and establishes a grace period. If the guest fails to meet this grace period specified by the system, their reservation will be automatically canceled.

Chapter 3 Software Analysis and Design

The systems planning phase involves project initiation and requirements gathering. During this phase, brainstorming was conducted to gather data and list the necessary system requirements for development.
Systems analysis includes dissecting a system into its component pieces to study their interaction and functionality. The researchers collected relevant data for the systems requirement specification, which addressed existing problems with appropriate solutions.

Through a series of interviews, the researchers have analyzed the given data to provide accurate information and identify the current problems in a systematic way.

Systems design

The process of systems design entails defining the framework, components, modules, interfaces, and data of a system to meet specific needs. In this phase, the researchers used the gathered data to establish the logical design of the proposed system.

System Development: During system development, the researchers took into account users' detailed requirements in order to meet their desired specifications.

During this phase, the guidelines for developing a dependable and improved system are established. Additionally, researchers select the programming language to be used in system development. The

primary aim of researchers during this phase is to produce the code for the system. Subsequently, the system undergoes testing to assess its performance. Two distinct methods are employed for testing the system, which are based on the earlier specified requirements.

First, the Alpha Testing phase was carried out to test the system's compatibility with various operating systems and its ability to handle errors by deliberately inputting invalid data.
Next, the Beta testing phase focused on evaluating the system's reservation capabilities over the internet and assessing its user-friendliness and compliance with all necessary requirements.
Finally, in the System Implementation phase, the fully functional system was implemented as the final product.
