Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health disorder that induces anxiety. It impacts individuals globally and encompasses an ongoing pattern of obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions refer to intrusive and unwanted urges, thoughts, or images that lead to profound sorrow. In contrast, compulsions are behaviors or actions undertaken to relieve the distress triggered by the obsessions. Typically, obsessions entail sensations of uncertainty, disgust, and fear.

Obsessions, a characteristic feature of OCD, disrupt everyday life and are a clear sign of the disorder rather than just an obsessive personality. olar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that results in abnormal shifts in mood, energy levels, activity levels, and daily functioning. It differentiates itself from OCD by having four distinct types with specific changes in mood, energy, and activity. These episodes vary from intense sadness and hopelessness to highly energized periods. Although both bipolar disorder and schizophrenia involve unusual levels of activity, emotions, behaviors, and sleep patterns; individuals with OCD engage in repetitive behaviors to alleviate obsessions and anxiety. A significant contrast between OCD and schizophrenia is that people with schizophrenia have control over their thoughts while those with OCD experience intrusive behaviors.

Patients suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) may exhibit symptoms of psychosis.
