The speaker has used pathos in his speech to evoke pity from the audience who are majorly the voters. He does this when he tells the voters that “being a single parent is not easy, especially when the majority of the mothers are not receiving adequate child support from the fathers” this is aimed at evoking the favor of the voters by trying to show them that he cares for the welfare of the disadvantaged people in the society. The author has also applied ethos in his speech by trying to convince the audience that he is credible enough to take the mantle of leadership in the country.
The use of ethos is illustrated when he says that, “I implored all of you to vote for me, I already have a massive support to repeal the previous tax credit and lower the tax rate for the ordinary
...people” the author has also used logos to influence the logic of the voters “my fellow countrymen who run the country” this is meant to deceive the voters that they too have a say in the project.
Logical fallacy
The speaker has used a logical fallacy in the speech as a way of convincing the audience on his agenda which is seeking for votes. The speaker says that “you are joining an army of budget reforms.” This is a fallacy because it does not necessarily mean that when the speaker ascends into power, then he will bring together more reforms.
Psychological fallacy
The speaker has also used psychological fallacies, he says that “the non-paying half are slackers” this is a fallacy because normally in all countries there are so many people who don’
pay their taxes and yet they are not slackers, such kind of individuals are some politicians, some rich people, and some ordinary citizens. It is, therefore, not true to state that only slackers don’t pay taxes.
