Racial discrimination is an issue that affects many individuals every day, which is why there are policies that are set in place in order to give the disadvantage a fair opportunity in life. Millions of African Americans have been affected by discrimination throughout history; take the Jim Crow laws, for example, where these laws enforced the segregation of blacks and whites. There are state and federal laws that affect the lives of many individuals in the United States, many of them that benefited them and some that affected them negatively. In the past, there have been state policies that have negatively impacted the lives of African Americans in the United States. The Residential Segregation Ordinances of 1910-1913, in Baltimore, Maryland, is an example of a local policy that restricted blacks and whites from integrating wit

It was one of the many discrimination laws that were yet to come; because in the past, African Americans held little to no rights, many of which affect them to this day because of the racism that many people still hold against them. Federal Policy affects the entire population in a given country.

Affirmative Action is a policy introduced in the 1960s; priority is given to minorities, or people who are at a disadvantage. The reason why this policy began in the first place was because of the injustices that minorities faced during the past, it was a way to fix past wrongdoings. Minorities are given an advantage in getting admitted into college, leading to some qualified candidates getting rejected, causing this to be a controversial policy becaus
