1. Poverty is a multidimensional phenomenon which results due to various factors such as social, economic and political processes interacting to make the living conditions of the people worse.
2. Absolute poverty is normally the state of lacking the basic needs for a given period of time endangering one’s life and sometimes causing harm. It extends from the lack of the basic needs such as clothing, housing needs, water and food as well as the minimum required sanitation.

   According to the conservatives, poverty is as a result of laziness which is brought about by the government’s aid. These aid disincentive individuals from doing work and hence making them “lazy”. It is also argued that the unfavorable environmental conditions may lead to lack of jobs. They believe that poverty leads to increased crimes in the society and then holds that the only way to solve these poverty problems is by electing the right leaders but not election through money exchange.
