Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles, are not limited to military use as commonly thought. They play a crucial role in various flight situations, providing support to troops round the clock by enabling sky surveillance and receiving ground input. The introduction of unmanned aircraft was pioneered by W. Bush in the United States.
There are currently two types of drones being used in Afghanistan and Pakistan: the MQ-1B predator and MQ-9 reaper. These drones have advanced sensors in their rounded noses and are unmanned (Kreps.page114). The use of drones has made farming easier by allowing farmers to monitor their crops from above. They can observe their irrigation systems and how their crops are growing. Additionally, drones can be used to determine if plants are being infected by pests or diseases through infrared technology. This helps farmers know when to prepare their crops and wat
...er them.
The use of unmanned aerial vehicles has greatly improved farmers' yields and their awareness of potential issues with their plants (Boon.et.al.page 61). In Hollywood, drones have increased the number of filmmakers who can capture innovative shots with fewer limitations. Creators now aim for results that would have previously required the use of wires and derrick workers. They can explore different and interesting methods to create unique visuals. Drones offer aerial capabilities that capture unfamiliar scenes and enhance their attractiveness. For example, a contract team leader in Dana Point, California, uses a small drone to capture video of a mega-pod of whales, providing a new perspective.
In various industries, there is talk once again of the whale family off Maui. Nashville entrepreneur Robert Hartline used a drone and camera equipment to capture footage of th
city's 4th of July fireworks. When selling a house, drones can assist in capturing aerial photos and videos, which have become popular for affordable properties. This method is particularly popular in California, where valleys and winemakers utilize it to enhance modest homes. These drones are generally affordable and make work easier for numerous individuals.
Researchers have recently developed drones that are able to construct and interlace apartment buildings in a high-rise arrangement. This innovative experiment has caught the attention of aerial construction workers due to the advanced choreographing capabilities of these drones. These drones can easily reach and maneuver in structures that are elevated above traditional construction methods. The researchers are also exploring ways to train the drones to construct elements that defy gravity, such as building structures that resemble bubbles. As these drones have no physical connection to the ground, they have the ability to shift and build blocks in any location they can fly to within a living structure, according to Federico Augugliaro.
Drones are proving to be highly valuable in both journalism and firefighting. In the field of journalism, drones allow reporters to gather live footage and information from various scenes, enhancing their reporting skills. This technology also presents students with invaluable learning opportunities on how to collect information effectively using drones. Similarly, firefighters have begun utilizing drones in situations where extinguishing wildfires is difficult. Although drones cannot mark the blaze, they can be employed to combat the fire and safeguard individuals.
During the 2007 wildfires in Southern California, a UAV was equipped with a radiant energy sensor to gather information about the fire's size. Similarly, drones were used after typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Drones are faster than helicopters and can quickly collect data for a short period of time (Nonami. Page 34). Additionally, drones are aiding in protecting endangered species by utilizing their airborne capabilities to prevent poaching and ensure survival.
Scientists in Indonesia are using drones to monitor the impact of deforestation on wild animals. The drones fly above the treetops, tracking monkey movements and observing how they adapt to habitat loss. This innovative use of drones is just one example of their environmental protection applications. In addition, scientists studying the ozone layer also employ drones to collect data on its composition. Academic papers have explored the use of drones for monitoring purposes and have identified potential areas for improvement.
Similarly, in Italy, drones have long been used to observe illegal activities. Drones excel at saving lives as well, with their speed surpassing that of ambulances. They can quickly transport medical equipment to individuals experiencing heart attacks, potentially saving lives.
Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles, play a crucial role in various situations. They are equipped with beacons to help find buried victims (Maden.et.al.page 65) and are utilized in disaster relief operations to provide medical aid and supplies to inaccessible regions. Furthermore, they assist communities affected by flooding during the rainy season by delivering necessary items (Hama, page 22). In addition, drones have applications in sports, where they offer coaches and spectators a valuable perspective on athlete performance. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles enhances every aspect from game planning to performance analysis.
They have multiple uses, helping in games, filming skating occasions in Sochi, assisting the police department in investigating hostility crimes and protecting related actions. Additionally, they aid
in inspecting disreputable and harsh oil rigs, preserving dangerous areas. Unmanned aerial vehicles have the capability to take off into hard-to-reach areas, enabling better monitoring of oil grounds and enormous pipelines. Furthermore, drones are utilized in creating art, specifically abstract paintings using scatter cans.
They are quicker at delivering pizza, delivering them promptly to homes while still hot and delicious. They also aid in expediting transportation of other items to various locations. Once loaded, shopping drones can complete their delivery in just a minute. In the case of Amazon, they assist with the prompt delivery of purchased items, making the process both enjoyable and efficient.
Therefore, drones are becoming more affordable, accessible, and user-friendly (Hamilton.87-92).
Why people fear drones
Drones have a frightening potential for surveillance as they are tiny and resemble insects. In terms of spying, drones pose more danger than manned aircraft. Drone warfare is distressing for the pilots because the drone operators drop bombs remotely from a considerable distance, creating a disconnect from the target. This inherent uncertainty lowers the emotional cost of pressing the kill button.
According to Benjamin.et.al (page101-123), the operators are unsure if their actions were correct or incorrect. A significant number of drone strikes result in the fatalities of women and children. In the United States, drones not only target and kill more women and children, but they also mistakenly strike gatherings of people. The tactic known as double tap droning involves an initial strike on the intended group, followed by a second strike on those who came to offer assistance. This practice has made Americans less safe, as it exposes them to danger while trying to protect US soldiers (Greenwald page
26).
