What Is Leadership For Me?

Leadership is a process of social inspiration that maximizes the efforts of others towards the accomplishment of the set goals. Leadership may also be referred to as a position of power apprehended by a person in a group that offers him or her with the opportunity to exercise interpersonal impact on the group members with the purpose of mobilizing as well as directing their efforts towards a certain goal (Maxwell, 1993). An effective leader is an individual who creates a stirring vision of the future, motivates and inspires people to involve with that vision besides managing the delivery of the vision. Leadership is an ability, denoting that a leader has the capability to do something through talent as well as skill. Prosperous leaders employ their strengths to inspire others and make an effort to minimize weaknesses that inhibit with their ability to lead. Real leaders turn weaknesses into positive characteristics through industrious efforts (Metz, 2011). Leaders also work to boost their strengths while looking for assistance to overwhelm weak traits.

As a leader, I am faced with different issues in my organization that at times leads to improvement and on the other side may lead to downfalls. I am faced with diverse weaknesses and strengths in my daily leadership endeavors. As a leader, I possess the strengths of being result oriented, honest, change oriented, and good communication traits, confident, inspiring, committed, and creative towards my organization (Metz, 2011).
