Understanding the impact of Bluetooth engineering on society is essential, as it has similar effects on users and societies as other engineering fields. To obtain an accurate understanding, we carried out a study consisting of 10 questions that specifically addressed this topic.

The study included 100 participants from Multimedia University and Limkokwing University, as well as information gathered from other sources, including the internet. The results indicate that while Bluetooth technology has brought convenience to life, it can also be utilized in detrimental ways with negative outcomes. Throughout history, humans have always sought to enhance their quality of life by innovating and creating. The invention of the "wheel" initiated this quest, which continues today. A recent accomplishment is the exploration of celestial bodies beyond Earth. Telecommunication agencies have played a crucial part in enabling the dissemination of information, especially with the emergence of computer technology. This has empowered scientists to acquire and apply research discoveries from fellow researchers, leading to notable progress in diverse scientific domains and the creation of more advanced devices.

In 1994, Ericson Mobile Communication started the Bluetooth project with the purpose of reducing dependence on cables for computer-peripheral connections.

In the commercial sector, Bluetooth is becoming increasingly popular as an innovative and game-changing technology. It has the potential to transform our interaction with machines by providing a wireless option for transmitting data between different components of a personal computer, such as printers and mice. Instead of relying on cables, Bluetooth offers a simple and affordable solution through small wireless devices that can be connected to these components. Interestingly, Bluetooth was originally known by a code name but later adopted its official title in honor of Herald Bluetooth, the tenth Danish King who successfully unified factions in Scandinavian Europe.

The discovery made by the founders of Bluetooth technology is that it has the capability to bring together various industries such as cellular phone, computer, and automotive markets. This technology combines different forms of wireless communication into one, which is secure, energy-efficient, affordable, and accessible globally.

Bluetooth Mechanism

To achieve its objective, Bluetooth incorporates small and inexpensive short-range transceivers into existing electronic devices. Moreover, Bluetooth can transfer data at a speed of up to 721 Kbps while operating on an unlicensed and globally available wireless frequency of 2.45 GHz. As a result, individuals or "international travelers" can utilize Bluetooth-enabled devices without any hindrances.

In addition, electronic devices can include Bluetooth units either internally or externally. For example, in a personal computer, Bluetooth devices can be installed on the motherboard as a PC card or used as an external Bluetooth adapter connected

to a USB port. As per the IEEE 802 standard, each Bluetooth device has its own unique 48-bit identifier. A notable feature is that connections can extend beyond one-to-one and support multipoint communication.

Bluetooth devices typically have a range of up to 10 meters, but this can be extended to 100 meters by increasing the power. To safeguard against wireless interference, these devices utilize frequency hopping.

The mechanism of Bluetooth devices involves random frequency changes at a rate of up to 1600 times per second. strong and active connection. When sending or receiving data, Bluetooth devices avoid interference from other wireless signals by quickly switching to a new frequency. Unlike other systems operating in the same frequency band, Bluetooth uses shorter packages and hops faster, which enhances its activity and strength. Additionally, this fast frequency hopping and use of short packages help reduce the impact of domestic microwave ovens. However, random noise can still affect long-distance links.

Forward Error Correction (FEC) is used to minimize the impact of encryption in an uncoordinated environment. Bluetooth security guarantees spot-level protection, enabling users to encode wireless signals using a 128-bit key across 8 to 128 spots. The safety standards required by countries employing Bluetooth technology ensure that wireless transmissions do not adversely affect human bodies. It should be noted that Bluetooth devices emit lower levels of radiation compared to industry-standard cordless phones.

In addition, Bluetooth has the capacity to operate without causing interference or harm to public or private telecommunications networks. The operation modes of Bluetooth entail creating networks between devices when they are within proximity of each other. Another notable feature is the capability to connect multiple devices through Bluetooth in a spontaneous manner. This ability is known as a "Piconet," which enables two or more devices to be linked together.

A scatter cyberspace can be formed by multiple independent and non-synchronized piconets. Additionally, any device that is in a piconet can also be a member of another piconet through a technique called clip multiplexing. This technique's mechanism is to portion the clip appropriately, so a device can belong to two or more piconets. Since the Bluetooth system supports both multi-point connections and

    The convenience of Bluetooth technology cannot be denied, but it has also had a negative impact on daily life.

    Some negative impacts of Bluetooth include violation of privacy. Mobile phones and personal computers often store private material such as household images, bank account numbers, passwords, etc. However, these devices are vulnerable to hacking through Bluetooth. Hackers can send a file (let's say an image) to a user. When the user receives and opens the image, it appears as a normal image but actually contains a hidden hacking software. Once the image is opened, the hacker gains control over the user's device.

    Sabotage: Downloading from the cyberspace and transferring information via Bluetooth can harm your device if the information contains viruses. The strength of these viruses varies; some can

    be easily removed, while others can completely damage the device upon reaching it.

    Health Damage: Although controversial, some people believe that the microwave radiation emitted by phones through prolonged usage can cause conditions such as malignant neoplastic disease and Alzheimer's disease.

    This project was conducted to assess the societal impact of Bluetooth technology in the near future. We have investigated the widespread adoption and impact of Bluetooth technology and provided detailed explanations for its influence.

    The study conducted on 100 pupils and lecturers from Multimedia University and Limkokwing University, Cyberjaya campuses serves as the main basis for our research on the impact of Bluetooth technology on society. These universities were chosen as small societies for our study. Additionally, we extensively utilized the internet to gather information on Bluetooth technology and its effects on other societies. The reason we focused on only 100 individuals is due to cost and time constraints that would be associated with a larger sample size. This study has the potential to be valuable for social specialists in understanding why certain technologies have a greater influence on people, as well as for Bluetooth developers who can work towards minimizing any negative impacts. It may also be of interest to individuals curious about the relationship between technology and society.

    Future researchers

    studying the same subject should take note that this research was conducted using a questionnaire among individuals of similar ages, primarily university students. Researchers with broader scopes can explore different age groups. The study's findings revealed that 90% of respondents possessed Bluetooth-enabled devices. The high prevalence of Bluetooth usage can be attributed to the widespread availability of electronics with Bluetooth technology. Additionally, approximately 25% of participants with Bluetooth-enabled devices reported experiencing negative impacts such as hacking or the transmission of viruses during data transfer. This is likely due to a lack of awareness among these individuals regarding the potential for Bluetooth to transport viruses or facilitate hacking during data transmission.

    Although Bluetooth technology has already become widely used, we believe that its potential can be further harnessed to make life easier and more efficient. For example, by providing Bluetooth connectivity in university research labs, it would simplify the transfer of data between researchers, students, or lecturers. However, caution should be exercised when using Bluetooth for data transfers, as it is possible for viruses or hacking software to be present in the information. A recommended solution is to utilize anti-virus and anti-hacker software. Additionally, it is important to monitor the usage of Bluetooth-enabled devices by children and adolescents.
