What is United States History?
The United States of America has a long and complex history that is filled with many interesting events. From the early days of Native American life to the industrial revolution, and from the Revolutionary War to modern times, the U.S. has seen much change over its centuries-long existence. At first, native peoples lived in what would eventually become known as America for thousands of years before European settlers arrived on its shores in the 16th century. Europeans brought diseases and decimated many native populations, but they also introduced new plants and animals which helped shape American culture for centuries to come. As more people came from Europe, settlers expanded into different parts of America’s vast landmass, creating colonies along the way that soon became states after declaring independence from Britain in 1776 following a hard-fought Revolutionary War (1775 83). In order to unify these disparate states, delegates met at Philadelphia in 1787 to create a federal government via what is now known as The Constitution of The United States Of America an agreement still followed today by all fifty states of the Union. During this period slavery was also abolished throughout most areas within U.S borders due to President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation issued during Civil War (1861 65). Afterward Reconstruction began which saw African Americans gain civil rights like suffrage while later Supreme Court decisions such as Brown v Board Of Education would further help promote racial equality across nation at large; though not without struggle or opposition certain individuals/groups fought tirelessly for these advancements leading up present day standards citizens take pride today .
