What is Second Industrial Revolution?
The Second Industrial Revolution was a period of rapid industrialization that took place between 1870 and 1914. This period marked an important turning point in world history, as it saw the transformation of traditional societies into modern industrialized nations. The revolution was driven by advances in technology, such as the invention of electricity, new sources of energy (coal and oil), and new methods of production (mass production). These technological advancements allowed for increased productivity and efficiency, which led to economic growth on a global scale. The Second Industrial Revolution is best known for its impact on Europe and North America but it also had an impact beyond these regions. Nations like Japan, Russia, China, India and Brazil all benefited from this period of innovation as well. For example, these countries introduced new forms of transportation such as railways or steamships to improve trade opportunities with other countries. They also adopted more efficient production techniques to increase their output at reduced costs. The innovations made during the Second Industrial Revolution also sparked a wave of social change across many areas. For instance, the abolitionist movement gained momentum due to increased economic opportunities for African Americans in the North while factory work created better working conditions for workers in comparison to those who worked on farms or family businesses before this era began. Additionally, women were given more employment opportunities outside the home while education became increasingly accessible with reforms put into place during this time period.
