What is President?
President Donald Trump has been a controversial figure since entering office in January 2017, and his time in the White House has been eventful. As President of the United States, President Trump has implemented sweeping changes to tax policy, health care reform, immigration, trade agreements, foreign policy and many other areas of American life. He has also appointed several conservative judges to the Supreme Court and reshaped the federal judiciary. President Trump’s ambitious agenda has seen him clash with both Republicans and Democrats alike. His rhetoric on immigration and international relations have drawn criticism from world leaders while his support for traditional values have earned him praise from conservatives. His economic record is highly praised by many including some economists who say it helped stimulate growth in jobs, wages and investments during his tenure as president. His supporters credit him with reducing taxes for most Americans as well as cutting unnecessary regulations which helped small businesses flourish. Critics disagree however saying that he focused too much attention on tax cuts for large corporations at the expense of working class individuals who were left behind when wages failed to increase along with economic growth. They also criticize his refusal to address climate change or gun violence prevention despite overwhelming scientific consenus on those issues. Regardless of opinion on President Trump’s policies one thing is certain: he will be remembered as one of the most consequential presidents in modern times due to the drastic changes he made during his four years in office.
