What is Orville And Wilbur Wright?
The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, were two of the most famous inventors of all time. They are credited with creating the world’s first successful powered airplane in 1903. The brothers grew up in Dayton, Ohio and shared an interest in technology from a young age. As children they built bicycles and kites before turning their attention to heavier-than-air flying machines. The Wright brothers believed that if an aircraft could be designed with a heavier-than-air frame then it may be possible for humans to achieve controlled flight. After years of research and experimentation, the pair designed a powered plane with movable wings that would allow for more control than other gliders of their time. On December 17th 1903, Orville piloted their aircraft on its maiden flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; it flew just over 120 feet in 12 seconds – a moment that marked the beginning of practical aviation as we know it today. After this first successful flight, the Wrights continued to develop their designs and demonstrated them publicly starting in 1908 at Le Mans in France; they also wrote several patents related to their work which revolutionized the field of aviation engineering and design forevermore. The legacy of Orville and Wilbur Wright is still honored today through educational programs centered around STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) learning as well as through numerous aerospace organizations dedicated to spreading awareness about aviation history across generations.
