What is Mid Twentieth Century?
Mid Twentieth Century was a period of rapid transformation and innovation. It marked the dawn of a new age, with many changes in technology, science, and culture taking place around the world. This era saw the rise of television, computers, jet travel, and space exploration; all of which changed life as we know it.The 1950s was an optimistic time for many people in the United States. After World War II had ended there was now peace and prosperity for much of the Western world. The Cold War began between the United States and Soviet Union and this caused tension between nations that would last until 1989 when the Berlin Wall fell. During this time period American society underwent a dramatic shift towards consumerism as more people purchased goods like cars, appliances, and televisions to make their lives easier than ever before.The civil rights movement also emerged during this time period as African Americans fought for equal rights under law in America. This movement eventually resulted in major changes to legislation such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which outlawed segregation based on race or color in public places across America.In Europe during mid-twentieth century there was an increased emphasis on creating a unified continent through organizations like The European Economic Community (EEC). This organization worked towards creating economic stability throughout all member states by allowing free trade among them while also creating a common currency called the euro which would be used by all EEC countries by 1999. Additionally during this era there were significant advances made in terms of medical care throughout Europe with scientific breakthroughs leading to improved treatments for diseases such as polio which had been ravaging populations since ancient times. In addition to this new medications were developed to treat cancer , diabetes , heart disease , and other illnesses. These advancements led to improved healthcare across Europe leading to longer lifespans overall. Overall mid-twentieth century was a time full of progress both socially politically , economically , medically , scientifically. It saw advances in technology that changed peoples’ every day lives making life more comfortable than ever before. The civil rights movement brought about important changes that are still felt today while initiatives like those taken by The European Economic Community helped create unity amongst nations leading us into our current globalized world today .
