What is High Middle Ages?
The High Middle Ages was a period of significant cultural and economic development, which began in the 11th century and lasted until the early 14th century. During this period, Europe experienced a shift from a largely rural society to an increasingly urban one. This was due in part to increased trade networks, population growth, and advances in technology. This period also saw a rise in educational institutions, including universities. The High Middle Ages were also characterized by strong monarchies and an increase in religious authority. One of the most significant events during this time was the Crusades – military campaigns initiated by European Christians with the aim of reclaiming lands that had been conquered by Muslims during their conquests. These crusades had both positive and negative effects on Europe – while they brought new trade opportunities and strengthened connections between different regions of Europe, they also led to violence, destruction, and death for many people living in those areas.During this period there were several important figures who left lasting impacts on culture. One example is Thomas Aquinas who wrote his famous Summa Theologica as well as numerous other works exploring philosophy, theology and natural law theories within Christianity. Another figure is Saint Francis of Assisi whose work focused on humility and poverty while promoting Christian values such as peace and charity towards all people regardless of faith or background. The High Middle Ages are often seen as a time when Europe experienced an unprecedented level of progress when it comes to technological developments such as advances in agriculture practices or the invention of mechanical clocks which allowed for more accurate time keeping than ever before. In addition to these advancements there were two notable cultural changes – firstly, feudalism became much more widespread which shifted power away from local rulers towards larger monarchs with increased authority.
