What is Greeks And Romans?

Greeks and Romans are two of the most influential cultures in our history. The Greeks were a powerful civilization that emerged in the 8th century BCE, while the Romans rose to power around 500 BCE. Both had an immense impact on almost every aspect of life, from politics and philosophy to art and architecture.The Greeks developed democracy as a form of government, which was later adopted by the Romans. They also developed arguably the first coherent system of philosophy, with Plato and Aristotle being some of its main exponents. This has been hugely influential for western thought and culture ever since, forming the basis for much modern philosophical debate. Similarly, their artistic achievements have left behind legacies that still shape our culture today; ancient Greek sculptures such as those depicting gods or heroes can be found all over Europe. Both cultures built grandiose cities with vast public works projects such as aqueducts and amphitheaters some examples still standing today include Rome’s Colosseum and Athens’ Parthenon temple complex. Another great contribution was engineering; this includes inventions like Archimedes’ screw pump and machines like catapults used during warfare. Ancient Greece also gave us one of our earliest forms of writing: Linear B script, which is thought to be an early version of Greek language related to Mycenaean era scripts found throughout mainland Greece (1450 1200 BCE). In terms of literature, both cultures have left behind many important texts including Homer’s epic poems Iliad & Odyssey (Greece) as well as Virgil’s Aeneid (Rome). Finally, it could be argued that both civilisations helped spread Christianity across Europe; for example Constantine I declared it legal in 313 CE after his conversion in 312 CE this led to its eventual dominance over pagan religions which had previously held sway over much European territory before then.
