What is Body And Soul?
Body and Soul is a term used to describe the relationship between physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the human being. It is a concept that has been around since ancient times and has been explored in many different cultures. The idea of body and soul is closely linked with the notion of holistic health; understanding that there are multiple aspects to an individual’s wellbeing which must be addressed in order for one to achieve true wellness. The physical body is the most tangible aspect of our being, it houses our organs, keeps us alive through respiration, takes nourishment from food, maintains temperature through perspiration and controls movement through muscles. It also reflects how we feel on an emotional level as emotions are often expressed outwardly though physical expression such as facial expressions or posture. So although it is easy to take care of the body by eating well and exercising regularly, it’s just as important to pay attention to our emotional state. The soul can be thought of as representing our inner self; it contains all our hopes, dreams, desires and beliefs and ultimately conveys who we are at a deeper level than just what we look like physically or what we do day-to-day. To nurture this part of ourselves means paying attention not only to how we look but also to how we think about things; challenging negative beliefs about ourselves can help us grow emotionally into healthier individuals. In order for us humans to reach peak health then both body and soul must be taken into consideration – no one aspect should take precedence over another because both elements form integral parts of who we are as human beings. By making sure that both elements remain in balance then a greater sense of overall wellbeing can be achieved enabling us to live full lives with meaning and purpose.
