What is American Revolution?

The American Revolution was a pivotal event in history that saw the 13 British colonies of North America break away from the rule of Britain and form an independent nation, the United States of America. This momentous event began in 1775 when open hostilities broke out between colonial militia and British forces at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. The American Revolutionary War spanned eight long years until its conclusion with the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783.The immediate cause for revolt was taxation without representation – colonists had no say in how they were taxed by Britain but still had to pay high levels of taxes for goods like tea. As tensions rose between Parliament and the colonists, more grievances were levied against Britain which included restrictions on trade, greater military presence within the colonies, and curtailed civil liberties such as press censorship. In response to these oppressive policies, some colonist responded with acts of resistance: boycotts of British goods, non-importation campaigns (refusing to import certain products from England), tarring and feathering officials who supported unpopular laws or taxes; even mass protests like Boston Tea Party where dozens gathered dressed as Native Americans to throw a shipment of tea into Boston Harbor in protest over unfair taxation. By 1776 all thirteen colonies had declared their independence from Great Britain through adoption or ratification of state constitutions or declarations. During this time period there were many notable figures including Benjamin Franklin who served as a diplomat during negotiations with France; Thomas Jefferson who wrote perhaps one most famous document drafted during this era Declaration Of Independence; George Washington who served as commander-in-chief throughout much conflict; John Adams who worked diligently at negotiating peace treaties; James Madison credited for his role drafting US Constitution along with other Founding Fathers such as Alexander Hamilton & John Jay among others whose contributions shaped our country’s future trajectory today. Ultimately it was not just one man or cause that won freedom for Americans but rather collective efforts made by countless individuals fighting together towards same goal independence. Their bravery & persistence paid off when finally after 8 years war came an end following signing Treaty Paris which recognized United States sovereignty over its territories now known what we know today modern day USA.
