What is 1980s And 1990s?
The 1980s and 1990s were a time of great social, economic, and political changes. It was a period of rapid globalization, deregulation, privatization, and technological advances that profoundly impacted the world. In the 1980s, the Cold War between the United States and Soviet Union ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. This ushered in a new era of political openness in Eastern Europe that allowed for more democratic governments to take root. In addition to this major shift in geopolitics, it also saw an increase in global interdependence as new technology like cell phones and fax machines allowed for easier communication across borders. On an economic level, neoliberalism became increasingly popular during this time period. The idea of free markets and minimal government intervention was embraced by countries like Great Britain and the United States which led to significant growth over these two decades. In addition to this economic shift, it also saw a rise in consumer culture as people had more disposable income that they could spend on luxury items or entertainment experiences like concerts or theme parks. The late 1980s also saw an explosion in computers technology as companies like Microsoft rose to prominence with their personal computer operating systems such as Windows 95 (1995). The internet was still not widely used but its popularity was increasing rapidly over these years leading up to when it would become available for commercial use around 1995-1996; launching us into what we now know as the digital age. On a social level, it was during these two decades that movements such as feminism really began to take hold resulting from greater access to education for women all around world which helped create more opportunities for them within society overall. People were becoming increasingly aware about environmental issues due largely due to growing media coverage on topics such as climate change; sparking an interest among many who wanted to make improvements or start doing their part towards helping preserve our planet’s resources better than before. Overall, both of these decades left behind lasting impressions on us today due largely thanks technological advances and neoliberal policies that allowed us further economic growth along with increased access education amongst other things; leading us into what is known now as modernity where much has changed from what our lives looked life back then.
