Suicide in Police Officers: A Systematic Review

EMTs and the general public of the United States. Additionally, the purpose of the text is to review the suicidal thoughts and behaviors amongst the first responders and examine the best ways of preventing the suicidal thoughts and acts. The ethos of the authors is that human life is sacred and no one has the right to take away his or life in spite of the situation that one is experiencing.

The author adapted the appropriate research paper structure whereby he opens his article with an introduction, discusses the methodologies, evidence, and conclusion. The structure makes it easier for one to analyze the ideas and critical thoughts of the author. Additionally, the authors used simple vocabularies that are easy to understand and examined. The tone used in the article has greater firmness in the article body as it expresses the author’s attitude and feeling towards his subject and audience. Moreover, the text has used allusion language device whereby it uses expressions to call something into one’s mind without mentioning it explicitly.

Conclusion

In an assumption, Hawken has systematically reviewed the suicidal thoughts and behaviors of the first responders by presenting 63 qualitative studies that have helped him gather more ideas. Additionally, language devices used throughout the article such as tone, allusion and structure have greatly contributed to my understanding of the purpose of the article.
