Although I may not consciously participate in exercise and sports to achieve the "ideal" body shape, there is still an underlying subconscious desire for societal approval of my appearance. Additionally, societies promote exercise and sports as a means to decrease obesity rates, which can lead to serious illnesses and diseases, while also reducing the burden on England's National Health Service (NHS). This phenomenon can be viewed as a public issue, as per C.Wright Mills, because when considering personal concerns related to body shape, associated psychological problems, and decreasing obesity rates, they become larger than individual matters.

Education and College

A significant part of my personal life and journey has been influenced by my fifteen-year educational experience. This includes two years spent studying at the College of Charleston for higher education.

Since I was young, it has been clear to me that after completing high school, I would attend university. Despite my parents and grandparents not having attended university themselves, both my sister and I chose to follow this path. It appears that in their era, the significance of attending university was not stressed as much as it is today. This transformation could be attributed to changes in employment opportunities such as the decrease in manufacturing jobs. As our society has progressed, so have our perspectives on higher education.

Attending university in Charleston, South Carolina had personal benefits for me. I was able to continue playing golf at a high

college level, which I value. Additionally, being from England, studying in Charleston allowed me to explore new places in America. Education, to me, is important because it equips students with necessary skills for their chosen career paths and provides exposure to different perspectives and societal structures. Considering C.Wright Mills' Sociological Imagination, I recognize that my choice of higher education is influenced by societal factors and cultural norms and values. By pursuing higher education, I am fulfilling society's expectations of the "ideal" pathway to a successful life. Attending university has long been ingrained in society as a means of achieving a fulfilling job. To encourage higher enrollment rates, grants and scholarships are offered to students through societal structures.

Analyzing this aspect of my life has made it evident that attending university is essential for leading a satisfying and enjoyable life. This is because it aids in the development of well-rounded individuals and provides opportunities to secure highly esteemed employment.
