There are many values and principles can create our workplace environment. However, I strongly believe that each position applies to a particular set of values and behaviors to be satisfied with your performance and final outcomes. My personal values have an impact on how to develop and maintain a challenging and motivated environment among my workers. There are three important behaviors I believe that each leader should practice reaching his or her goals. The three behaviors are; communication, integrity, and respect.
In cases where conflicts arise, communication can solve these conflicts amicably and be utilized as a way to avoid any future dilemma. For instance, lack of clear roles is one of the major problems that workers always face, and it can be a source of conflict among teams in the workplace. To deal with it, leaders should always
...find a way of conveying information to clear subdivision of roles and avoid any confusion in the future. Each leader has to find a proper channel to communicate to their employees to ensure that the tasks are distributed correctly to every individual in the workplace. As a result, leaders will be able to focus and drive their energy towards the completion of the tasks that were assigned to workers (Tsai 01). Effective communication is of paramount importance as far as leadership is concerned. An effective leader communicates relevant information to the team members in time to avoid delays. As such, the team members successfully achieve the set goals of the group within the required time. Also, communication plays a crucial role in motivating employees at the workplace. Through motivation, the leader can encourage, persuade and stimulate workers
to perform their tasks efficiently. Motivation acts as a catalyst in working environment and increases the productive of workers.
Another important value is respect. In a positive job environment, leaders always have to listen and respect other thoughts, because they will get the chance to deal with many workers that might have different backgrounds, cultures, values, and standards. Respect helps the leader to have a very close and personal relation with each of their employees. Good interpersonal relationship enables workers to open up their heart and share their problems, ideas and perspectives towards work related issues. Consequently, the workers will feel valued and refrain from activities such as strike. The only way leaders can earn respect from workers is by just respecting. Leaders are supposed to lead by setting a good example for their subordinates (Yukl 80).
Finally, integrative is an essential quality for a great leader. It means doing the right thing all times irrespective of the consequences of your actions and the prevailing circumstances (Yukl 82). The advantage of integrity is that it helps the leader to win the trust of their seniors as well as their subordinates. A leader with integrity cannot engage in corrupt dealing. Human beings have the conscience to distinguish between right and wrong. Therefore, choosing to do the rights is the fundamental principle of integrity. Leaders with integrity are honest and always tell the truth. Honesty, trust, and truth sum up the term integrity. Therefore, leaders can acquire other leadership qualities by being people of integrity. Therefore, I will improve integrity as one of the important behaviors a leader should possess.
