An academic honor code is a set of rules governing a learning institution based on ideas that define what consists honorable behavior within that community. The honor code applies to all students (undergraduate and graduate) in the College of Arts and Sciences (Banta, pg9) the School of Education, the School of Management, and the School of Nursing and Health Professions. Faculty and students in the School of Law should review their own honor code for policies and procedures. Students enrolled in distance learning (online courses) are subject to these policies as well as supplemental policies set forth by their program.

When comparing the university of South Carolina academic honor code and university of colardos honor code policy. Some of the similarities that in both of the honor code polices it are against the code to do plagiarism. In both of the codes the students and the staff are supposed to report any fabrication of any university academic honor codes and it’s against both codes to have unauthorized position of examination materials.

The differences are that in Colardos honor of code it’s against the codes to be intoxicated in school or in the class and students’ with alcohol or substance abuse problem should seek help and this does not consist in the university of south carolina honor of code policy. Also, in university of South Carolina it’s against the university codes of honor to bribe which does not exist in the university of colardos code of honor.

I like the concept of being against bribery in university of South Carolina. This is because it trains the students not to be corrupt while they are in the society out of school or even when they become readers. It is against cheating in both of the universities. This trains the students to be able to work hart at every work they perform and not depend on shortcuts thus improving the quality of their work. This concept ensures that the students are not be intoxicated in the university of Colorados this protects the students not to be drug addicts and also it improves their individual concentration and that of

follow students. The concept in both the universities that students should report any violations in the universities honor codes policy (McCabe et al, pg260).

This trains the students to be honest and trustworthy civilian citizens. The policy is against lying in the university of South Carolina this is because it makes the students to be honest and trustworthy and against misuse of academic materials in the University of Corlado. This is because it makes the students to be good economists and trains them against wastage. This policy ensures that students do not submit same assignment for more than one unit. This makes the students to be honest in the community and also in their working place.

Violation of the honor code of the university might be might lead to one being panelized by being given a suspension which means I will not be allowed to attend classes which may affect my grades hence degrading my degree. Also plagiarism might lead to being penalized in the assignment or very low grades for the paper hence degrading the degree I am seeking. Violation of some of the universities honor codes like cheating in exams might lead to being given an F in the course or a grade reduction in the course and that fully degrades the degree am seeking. Violating university honor codes can lead to a full termination from the university and the degree am seeking is degraded.

Corlado University honor codes raises the bar of learning and ensures that the program is reputable. When a student is allowed to cheat, the student is not fully prepared for the workforce and also the student will be used to following

shortcuts even in the work place hence ruining the reputation of the university hence degrading my degree and that of other students taking separate courses.

Honor codes in corlado university encourages students to become honest, hard-working and distinguished members of their communities and if they are violated the students and graduates become disrespectful and even in their work hence ruining the reputation of the university and discrediting the universities degrees.

Violation of honor code that says that students should not be intoxicated while in classes helps students not to be addicts this is because if the grandaunts of the university go to work while intoxicated might ruin the reputation of the school and discrediting the degrees offered at the university.

Lessons that can be learned from this are that it’s not good for a student to cheat in exams or in any way and wrong for a student to be intoxicated during classes. It’s not good for a student to submit same assignment more than one unit and students urged not to practice plagiarism.

Some of the changes that I will make are early preparations for exams adequately so that I don’t be attempted to cheat, do enough research so that I don’t practice plagiarism, do my assignments well so that I don’t submit my work more than once .it is also good that I don’t take alcohol or any drug during class times so that I don’t be intoxicated during class times (Chickering et al, pg7). Some of the actions I may do can degrade the value of my degree discredit degrees offered at university of corolado.

The community should care about academic integrity because within a learning community

raises the bar of learning and ensures that the program is reputable. When a student is allowed to cheat, the student is not fully prepared for the workforce, and the university's reputation may be compromised, as the knowledge, skills and professional competence of the student don't accurately represent his learning opportunity. It also encourages students to become honest, hard-working and distinguished members of their communities. This academic work could be done differently and would do more research that I would not cheat in exams and also be honest at everything I do. I would also not disturb others while in studies.

Academic integrity in the future applies that a student becomes a trustworthy person when they get jobs and also when they are in the community and helps a person not to be intoxicated in work place which might lead to being terminated from the place (McCabe et al, pg225). It also trains a student to be responsible even in future and helps student to be a respectable member of community.
