Mary Shelley has used her work Frankenstein to express the theme of the battle between use of faith and science to elaborate the nature of human being based on life and death (Shelley 71). Following the narrative of victor how he gets confused after creating a monster by use of chemistry which would later turn to be harming and disturbing to his life. In reference to this narrative, Mary Shelley is expressing the idea of faith and science indicating that, the two concepts don not fit together. This can be reflected in the contemporary society, where there is social battle between the believers and atheists who perceive death and life. In really sense, the two swim in separate boats and there will never agree

as far as issue of death is concerned. Mary Shelley postulates that, spiritual faith lead victor to blame the scientific knowledge which he used to build or make a monster which would later cause death to his brother and father (Shelley 66). Therefore, there is assumption, acquiring too much knowledge can contribute to creation or developed of social perspectives which would be used to explain the relevance cause of death.

Although up to date there is no any scientific explanation for death and life, Victor had no other option rather than believing the creature can cause death despite acquiring scientific knowledge which acquired from the chemistry professor in University. This is because the power of science does not provide comprehensive understanding of death and life as whole. However, there is a bit of contradiction

as Victor is introduced to medical attention by Henry who treats his disease and resumes the normal health. This has triggered some of the ethical questions or issues regarding matter of life and death. Throughout the novel Frankenstein, there is known about death despite the effort of the author to bring out the point regarding the definition of death. Based on the story of Victor right from her childhood to later ages, he is always eager and curious to learn about death, however the much he could do was to use university knowledge to make a creature which turns to be a monster and therefore after, the creature could not provide solutions to his problems as expected. The author in this case is trying to relate the monster to the Adam who was the first man to be created by God, which means the monster, cannot be used to mean rather than undefined creature which has also to rely on God’s interventions (Shelley 42). The ethical questions regarding the originality of life source of death is unknown.

Therefore the question of who created God remains unsolved. Although Frankenstein is a fiction novel, it is trying to reflect the divine and science issues which are being addressed by scholars in the contemporary society. Another concern or question regards between the science and believe can be used to solve the problems relating to deaths and life. Mary Shelley has failed to show that, faith is more preferred as the uttermost and the final solutions to deaths. This is because science has failed to reach a clear solution. To avoid leaving the issue unresolved, medical solution provided to Victor

is an indication that, life can only be maintained rather than created as it is matter of complexity and she postulates the believe that, there is super natural being who must be in control of human life(Mol 109).

Mary Shelley is not different from religious scholars and authors despite she has expressed the idea in terms of novel, however there is a lot of similarity (Mol 122). For instance, she develops a picture of unknown creature to symbolize faith since it is lacking scientific evidence. This also remains to be dilemma in many researchers who are interested in exploring the field. Basing on the contemporary society, there is doctors and religious leaders who on contestant battle regarding their work. However, faith is taking many of the individuals as they have to remain faithful in achieving their research work. For instance doctors also believe there is God despite having capability to treat and safe patients from deaths. In Frankenstein, author shows the spiritual faith is playing greater role than science power, however the idea of faith and its power comes at the end of the novel

In the contemporary society, the applicability of Frankenstein concerning death and life can be shown in the advancement of medical technology which is trying to overtake the role of faith. However, this is receiving a lot of resistance from most of the religious leaders all over the world (Mol 119). This is further battle in which science is taking a different shape and direction whereas spiritual faith remains to be the backbone of life explanations.

In conclusion, the role undertaken by victor in Frankenstein provides literal understanding of the dilemma of death and

life despite at the end the author do leaves the reader in suspense. Therefore the battle of faith and science remains to be issues in the contemporary society it is likely to remain unresolved. Frankenstein is in line with many other authors in exploration of creation based on power of science and spiritual faith.
