Various forms of media, such as music videos, movies, reality shows, beer ads, online porn, video games with prostitutes, and sexy doctor shows widely depict sexual content. Research indicates that increased exposure to sexual content can lead children to engage in sexual activities at an earlier age. Adolescents rely heavily on the media for information about sex, dating, and sexual health. Health experts argue that the media can effectively educate individuals about contraception methods and sexually transmitted diseases. However, in 2005 only 15% of TV shows featuring explicit sexual content addressed associated risks and responsibilities out of a total of 68%. Not just movies and television but also music, video games, and the Internet contain sexually explicit and degrading messages which have the potential to influence young people's attitudes towards sex.
