The condition of public transportation in London, specifically trains, buses, and boats, is a matter that cannot be disregarded. Despite the expensive fees, there are frequent delays and unsatisfactory service, which calls for help. In terms of fares, the tubes, buses, and other forms of public transport in London are up-to-date; however, they lack the necessary speed and capacity required for modern times.
Also, the trains and the buses are continuously dirty. If I desired to smell like fried chicken, I would simply walk into a fast food establishment. Instead, I find myself cramming into a crowded subway and observing the widespread litter on the floor. The odor assaults my nostrils, and to make matters worse, there is even chewing gum adhered to my pants when I finally manage to find a seat, if one is available
...at all. Moreover, the trains are consistently uncomfortable due to the lack of air-conditioning in the underground and the excessive heat in these enclosed spaces.
The buses are uncomfortable because when there are potholes in the tarmac, the buses experience a bumping effect, resulting in passengers getting hurt. To prevent this, bus drivers could slow down when they encounter potholes, providing a more comfortable ride. However, they always want to reach their destination quickly. Similarly, boat services on the river Thames are never comfortable because the seats are always wet due to rainwater and river water entering. What annoys me the most is that none of the public transports are ever punctual, causing passengers to be late.
The high fare of public transport in London is a major concern. The tube charges u
to ?6 for a one-way ticket, while a single bus stop costs at least ?2.20. Even crossing the Thames by boat costs ?5 for just five minutes, which equals to ?1 per minute. As a result, I have developed a dislike for public transport in London.
