Based on the information presented in the survey, it is clear to see that my personal thinking style is highest for my affiliative style and approach. This is primarily because I like to ensure that I have support whenever I make my way in a test whether it is on an academic level or on a personal basis. My ability to forge these relationships with my cohorts is something that I value very much as I’m a strong believer that you learn more from the environments around you as opposed to a single textbook or other method of self-improvement or educational medium.

My second highest percentile is from my ability to be encouraging on a humanistic level. I believe that the fact that I’m a mother comes into play here, and I often try to see every

person a child of God and due to this, I make it a conscious effort in my everyday life to make sure that everyone is pleased and can work on the same level to get a task completed as expected. Unquestionably, my limiting style that is working against me and reduces my overall effectiveness stems from my yearning to be a perfectionist and to complete a task to the highest standard.

Through implying such a method, I feel that I have subconsciously worked to limit my professional effectiveness in organizations and have not be able to develop as quickly as I’d like as I am constantly held back by tasks which need to be completed and sent out in a quick and specific time frame rather than something that is slow and tenuous in nature. this interpretation, I again went back and paid a closer reflection to the affliative style and approach.

T is based on this approach that I understand that my style is characterized by my personal belief that sees me: - Valuing relationships above everything else. - A requirement to build strong relationships that are both meaningful and reciprocal. - Strong, well-developed interpersonal skills (which arise quickly through communicating with others and working to develop relationships on a personal level. ) - A tendency to motivate others using genuine praise and friendliness What impact do your personal styles have on your management style?

Without a doubt, it’s inevitable that the personality styles characterized in the life styles inventory profile are those which forge the foundation of my development on both a professional and personal basis. My willingness to do whatever it takes to help others out is something that I agree with completely, and I do agree that I am haunted in a sense by my requirement to be loved, understood and appreciated by the world around me. A lot of times, this is impossible to do, and the final result is that I am let-down in my relationships and by those situations which I have no control over.

Regarding my personal styles on my effectiveness as a manager in terms of the four functions of management, I have broken down the functions and shared an explanation on how I believe these impact my development and career growth. a) Planning – through planning, I’m able to apply my attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge of system policies and procedures to ensure that I can use my experiences and interpersonal relationships

to help everyone get on the same page and work collectively towards achieving a common goal together.

b) Organizing – my ability to see a task and organization on both an internal and external level have helped me to realize which requirements will more quickly deliver a result that will benefit those around me. Such examples include which types of meetings to schedule, and when to schedule them, as well as the types of interactions and feedback I’m able to give those around me.

c) Leading – I’m able to lead well through my understanding of my current system and environment at work. Through analyzing what works and what does not work in my current work ecosystem I’m able to help steer workers and those that have reported to me in the past in the correct direction. Furthermore, it’s also allowed me to be a more positive role model through sharing my pain points and the things which have and have not worked for me in the past.

d) Controlling – I am not very controlling in nature and usually just speak to those around me to make sure everyone’s on a common understanding and collectively working to finalize a specific task without paying too much attention to the distractions which can be caused by a work environment that is not cohesive in nature. Therefore, I’m able to ensure that control stems closely to what’s expected, and that if all members of a team are working collectively towards a goal with little disturbance, then no problems will be seen in my direction, and instead, the task will be completed with minimal dispute.

Genesis of Personal Style I was very

surprised by the analysis which explained by personal style and I realize that ther’es a requirement for me to become a lot more assertive and to be more domineering in my decision making while at the same time, concentrating more on completing a task in a reasonable time frame as opposed to spending the majority of my time making sure it’s complete at a very high level. Through forging more relationships outside of both the work place, and outside of the classroom.

I will be able to expand my network and critical circle, and upon doing so, I will be exposed to unique environments and mindsets that will allow me to develop more and achieve things I previously deemed to be unattainable. All in all, considering the position that I am in now, I believe that my previous experiences resulting from both my family relationships, interactions with peers at work and my fellow students within class have helped to shape my personal style and allow me to develop more on a personal level.

I have been fortunate enough to share my own experiences in these relationships, and upon doing so, I have be able to leave a unique part of myself wherever I have gone. Conclusion and Reflection Thinking about my LSI results and my overall responses, I believe that there are many unique areas which I must continue to work on to ensure my growth is developed to not only reach, but to surpass the maximum potential attainable by myself. I realize that I need to work to develop my power style, and realize what is required to be more dominating and controlling in my interactions

and conversations with those around me.

Through already having the softer skills such as my cooperative and friendly behavior with my family and friends, I must ensure that I am able to leverage these skills to help form more business like relationships through my ability to encourage people to work on the same page with a liking for one another. Through believing that all relationships are conditional in nature, I must give my all if that is what I aim and hope to receive back from those around me.
