Newton's First Law of Motion asserts that an object will maintain its current trajectory unless affected by some external force. This principle, elucidated by Sir Isaac Newton, mirrors a personal incident where my direction was changed due to outside influences. In my teenage years, I would persistently adhere to my own plans, often ignoring advice from my parents and especially from my father.
Maybe the reason his regular advice about my academic endeavors doesn't resonate with me is due to my incomplete comprehension of it. He frequently broaches this subject during our shared meals or while we're engrossed in a TV game. His usual query goes something like, "How's your study progressing?" To deflect the conversation from my academics, I typically reply with something akin to "All's well, dad; no issues." I swiftly st
...eer the dialogue by suggesting: "Hey dad, how about we watch that Tom Cruise film this Sunday?" A gentle grin adorns my face as I append "...it would be an excellent chance for us to spend some quality time together!"
Understanding that his counsel, "I am relentlessly striving to ensure everyone gets a high-standard education," would persist unless I concluded our dialogue, I recognized his steadfast dedication to our family and his promise of delivering us an outstanding education. Despite this acknowledgement, these feelings are still in the process of being fully internalized. Basically, my situation can be compared to the scientific law of inertia which states "an object at rest maintains its state of rest and an object in motion continues moving at a constant velocity and direction until acted upon by an external force" (Henderson, 2007).

Despite my dad's guidance, I didn't immediately change my behaviors. My approach to academic responsibilities was somewhat indifferent. As a teenager, I tackled schoolwork in a laid-back manner and wasn't dedicated to attaining top marks. My journey through education was steady yet marked by disinterest, seemingly on course for obscurity. According to Henderson's (2007) interpretation of Newton's First Law of Motion, I maintained constant momentum until it was interrupted by an unbalanced force.
My perspective on life shifted after attending community college, where I encountered older individuals who had forsaken their education to dive into their careers directly. Observing how they had to return to schooling after realizing the importance of education made me determined not to follow in their footsteps. I am now committed to my studies and understand the value of completing my education without any interruptions. Their experiences have brought home the truth in the wisdom of my father.
Previously, I was dismissive of his counsel and planned to stick to my usual routines. As stated by Henderson (2007), items are resistant to alterations in their state of motion, following their own will. Today, I am appreciative because unlike an inanimate object resistant to change, I am an individual capable of adjusting to significant shifts in my life. The 'external impact' of that particular event has 'propelled' me towards a divergent path. The effect of that event has guided me towards my 'anticipated future' and my 'selected lifestyle'.
I have come to understand and determined that pursuing my studies with dedication is crucial for obtaining good grades. This aligns not only with my father's desires for me, but
also with my own aspiration for a sound education and a promising future. Since the occurrence, my academic performance has significantly improved, which I presume brings joy to my father given the transformation he has observed in me. In return, I appreciate and am thankful to him for his guidance. From that point onwards, I haven't attempted to diverge the conversation whenever my father inquires about my academics. Nonetheless, I continue to invite him to join me for a film!
