It is revealed that Peter is actually Detective Graham's younger brother. He had been missing for months due to getting into trouble with the law, like stealing cars and engaging in other unethical activities with Anthony. Meanwhile, Cameron Thayer, an affluent African-American director, and his wife, Christine, were stopped by two cops named Ryan and Tommy while driving back from an awards show. Ryan was rude and behaved inappropriately by touching Christine without her consent, leaving her feeling humiliated and hurt. Tommy was taken aback by the situation. Cameron later explained to Christine that he didn't fight back because of the unfair treatment African-Americans often face from the police. Later on, Christine is involved in a terrible accident and Officer Ryan ends up saving her life, though she is initially hesitant due to their earlier encounter.

While fixing the lock on Jean Cabbot's door, a locksmith named Daniel, who is a devoted father and husband and also of Hispanic-American descent, becomes the subject of an unfair judgment from Jean. She assumes that he is involved in violent street fights and therefore wants someone else to change the locks the next day. As a result, Daniel ends up changing the locks on Farhad's door instead, explaining to him that the door needed to be changed. Unfortunately, due to a language barrier, Farhad misunderstands Daniel's intentions and thinks he is refusing to help. This leads to a heated argument and Daniel eventually walks away.

Farhad retrieves the gun his daughter bought and sets out to shoot Daniel, but

Daniel's daughter intercepts and is mistakenly shot. The bullets were later discovered to be fake, leading to a transformative moment for Farhad. This scene, along with Christine's accident, were the most emotional moments of the movie. Meanwhile, Anthony and Peter unintentionally hit and injure Kim Lee's husband, who they discover is involved in human trafficking after examining the contents of his truck.

Despite being suspected of carjacking, Cameron was aided by Officer Tommy who wanted to make up for his friend Officer Ryan's sexual harassment of Christine. Cameron had not actually committed the crime as Anthony had hidden the car. Officer Tommy's kind gesture was aimed at repairing their relationship and assuaging his guilt for not helping the Thayers earlier. The movie concludes with Officer Tommy picking up a hitchhiker, who is revealed to be Peter.

Upon noticing a miniature angel statue on Tommy’s dashboard, Peter tries to take out his own miniature angel from his pocket. However, Tommy mistakes Peter’s gesture for him taking out a gun and shoots him down. Realizing his fatal error, Tommy burns his car in guilt and to eliminate any possible evidence. He then dumps Peter’s body by the roadside, where it is later found by his own brother, Detective Graham. The movie, called Crash, depicts the various ways people collide with each other for different reasons. This "crashing" refers not only to the collision of vehicles but also to the countless ways people affect each other's lives, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

The movie's message was to convey that we are interconnected on various levels and that all events occur for a purpose.
