Hays is a business services company that offers a range of specialist services in mail, logistics, storage, and personnel. These services are divided into three main areas: Hays Logistics, Personnel, Commercial. They supply their services to companies all around the world, including France and China, and work with large companies such as Waitrose, KingSpan, B&Q, Phillips, Kerry Foods, Vauxhall, Orange, and Vodafone. They also offer control solutions for Sainsbury's, Wal-Mart, Waitrose, Safeway, Co-op and Aldi in the form of crate cleaning. In addition to this, they provide bulk packaged chemicals for BP, DuPont, ICI, Procter ; Gamble, Shell and Dow Chemicals. These services are also available in the USA, China, Poland, Spain, Iberian, and Italy.
Within Birmingham, E1 Hays houses the storage center for the Lord Chancellors Department, boasting an impressive 37km of shelf space. The company
...'s founder, Mr. Frost, has recently retired and was ranked as the 158th wealthiest individual in Britain. E1 Hays operates as a public limited company.
The Public Limited Company offers the advantage of limited liability, wherein only the invested capital is at risk and not the owner's personal property, allowing for expansion and diversification across markets and regions. As a separate legal entity from its owners, it can obtain more capital through public offerings. However, it also puts pressure on managers to prioritize profit over other concerns like environmental responsibility. Despite this, companies often use environmental responsibility as a means to enhance their image and stay ahead of competitors. Additionally, Public Limited Companies have a large number of shareholders, with Hays selling over 4 million new shares in 2001 and the largest shareholder being Mr R E Frost (Ex Chairman -
Retired) who holds a total of 4 shares.
With only 61% ownership in the company, the shareholder's influence is limited. However, this also means that the risk of anyone buying enough shares to take over the limited company is reduced. While it's unlikely that an individual would purchase enough shares for a takeover, it remains a possibility for another company despite the high costs associated with such an acquisition. Hays operates within the private sector but provides services to various public organizations.
g. The police and the South Warwick Council are involved in achieving the goals at the national level, while Europe oversees international efforts.
3. Objectives: E2 C1. One commonly used marketing quote says, "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?" asked Alice. "That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the cat. "I don't much care where-" "Then it doesn't matter which way you go."
The cat in Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" emphasized the significance of planning. It's not only important to have a destination in mind, but also to communicate it to others who can offer support. As the saying goes, "Columbus didn't just sail, he sailed West." Another proverb advises us to aim for the stars - we may not reach many, but at least we won't end up with a handful of mud.
Many individuals recognize that establishing a structure requires objectives. Hays' primary goal is for all of their divisions to operate as leading entities in their respective segments. Shareholders seek excellence in each segment of the company's business in order to increase sales and market share. In addition, this
achievement will bring about positive publicity in various publications. The ultimate objective is to earn the highest possible return on investment (ROI).
Hays is currently reviewing its plans to ensure that the first priority - achieving or having already attained objectives for each division and segment - is met. Additionally, the company has standard business goals in mind, which include staying ahead in the market, maximizing profits efficiently for shareholder satisfaction in the form of dividends, and more.
Hays Plc aims to ensure employee satisfaction in order to retain the best quality service in the market and attain a competitive advantage. Their objectives, including providing unparalleled services and maintaining sales ahead of competitors, are justified by reasons that would result in higher long-term sales and profit. Hays' goal is to stay ahead in the market and not give in to falling sales, while also producing maximum profit to satisfy shareholders and directors.
Efficiency is a crucial aspect for businesses in order to increase profits by saving resources or maximizing production. The role of employees is especially significant for Hays as they rely on their employees' performance to provide quality service. Lack of employee motivation can negatively impact the quality of work and efficiency, leading to damage to Hays' reputation and market position. The high quality of their employees sets Hays apart from their competitors and ensures employee satisfaction. Maintaining market presence and maximizing profits while providing top-notch service is Hays' goal.
It is essential for employees to feel happy in their workplace, as it motivates them to create products or complete services effectively. Hays prioritizes their personnel department to support their employees and offers various incentives, including
the opportunity to invest in the company by buying shares. This investment helps the firm receive capital and assures the employees of job security. Hays joined Business in the Community in 2001, which adopts practices to oversee the areas they operate in, along with implementing policies that support the environment and community they function in. Their Good Neighbour Policy enables Hays to communicate with local shareholders and key members of the community to identify areas that require assistance. In 2001, they donated i??86,014 to charitable funds without any political affiliations. A survey revealed that 68% of the public has never heard of Hays or what it does, while only 13% are familiar with its operations.
According to the data, 8% of the respondents were linked to Hays, while the remaining 19% acknowledged Hays lorries as a delivery company and were not aware of Hays Personnel or Hays Commercial. This demonstrates that Hays has limited visibility and public exposure, advertising solely to business markets and remaining unfamiliar to the general public.
Although Hays has a limited public presence, those who are familiar with it hold it in high regard and often recognize it as one of the best. Hays employs various performance indicators to assess its success in meeting objectives, and from what I have observed in Britain, Hays not only meets but exceeds its targets. Moreover, Hays continually updates its advanced goals (distinct from its primary objectives).
Recently, Hays has prioritized providing eco-friendly services and has acknowledged the need to reduce toxin emissions in an effort to contribute to environmental preservation. Extensive research is being conducted to implement this plan as soon as possible. Due to their
size, Hays cannot specifically outline their objectives as they must cater to the entire company. Focusing on certain aims may negatively impact certain segments and potentially harm their reputation. Therefore, Hays' meticulously researched framework accommodates the needs of every segment, ensuring that their aims are appropriate and effective.
The UK Hays segments have all reached their individual and personal goals. This is evident from the increase in their shares, which indicates that they are performing well. As a result, there is a growing demand for their shares in the stock and share market.
