To address the increasing demand for executive training programs among corporations in Jamaica, UCC offers two to three-day courses and seminars tailored for middle and senior executives' development.The University of the West Indies and University of Technology are well-established institutions, while UCC is relatively new. However, UCC has become popular among working-class individuals due to its accreditation, diverse course options, and flexible schedules. Nevertheless, it remains unclear how employers view graduates from UCC compared to those from traditional universities. This study aims to examine employers' perceptions of UCC graduates versus graduates from traditional Jamaican universities.The objective of this research is to evaluate the recognition of USC as a traditional university and assess the workplace performance of its graduates. The study will analyze the selection process used by CEOs and managers at the strategic level when choosing potential employees from UCC graduates as well as graduates from other traditional universities such as the University of the West Indies, University of Technology, Northern Caribbean University, and Micro University College. We will be conducting research to determine employer preferences between graduates from USC and graduates from traditional universities like III and TECH. The research will address questions regarding desired qualities/skills in new employees,

experience with USC graduates in relation to these qualities/skills, company's perspective on hiring local university graduates favoring III or TECH, comparison between USC graduates and those from University of the West Indies and University of Technology in terms of performance, knowledge, and capability, demonstration of good work ethics by USC graduates valued by all organizations, contribution towards achieving firm objectives by USC graduates along with their effectiveness compared to counterparts.The study will utilize necessary tools and follow an Exploratory Research Design format for a duration of one month. We will conduct interviews with Human Resource Managers and other top management personnel from leading companies. Adequate time will be allotted to collect information from busy HR personnel who are willing to participate in the study. The research design used will be exploratory, allowing for informal procedures and providing insights into how target companies perceive USC graduates. Personal interviews with high-level managers responsible for recruitment will be the main component of the research process, which is flexible and unstructured. A small non-representative sample size has been chosen to gain maximum insights regarding how companies view USC graduates' performance. Qualitative responses will be obtained through specifically designed interview questions, organized according to their corresponding order in the interview process. Data collection involves conducting interviews aimed at exploring the selection practices of the target companies' management. These interviews will take place Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, following a five-day work week schedule. Three methods - face-to-face, telephone, and interview schedule - are available for conducting these interviews. Face-to-face interviews require an appointment at the company premises where interaction with the interviewee takes place while asking

questions.These interviews are recorded and typically last at least thirty minutes. Observing the interviewee's mannerisms during their responses can provide valuable insights. If a target company cannot accommodate a face-to-face visit, they have the option of a telephone interview or receiving an interview schedule. Telephone interviews, which typically last around thirty minutes, are semi-structured and conducted with the human resource manager or their designate. For interview schedules, questions will be sent to the HR manager or designate who will record responses on the provided schedule. The agreed turnaround time for responses will be determined by both parties involved in the interview process. The Researcher will collect the completed schedule at the end of this agreed-upon turnaround time. Data analysis for these depth interviews will occur in the following week after completing all interviews within that five-day period. A team led by Vice President/Research Analyst consisting of four members will collate and analyze this data over two days. The analysis of perceptions or preferences from respondents will utilize Multidimensional Scaling (MEDS) method, specifically using metronomic MEDS procedure. A comprehensive written report summarizing the entire research project and assisting in future strategic decision-making will be prepared and presented.
The report will contain various sections, including a title page, table of contents, list of appendices, executive summary, problem definition, approach to the problem, research design, data analysis results, limitations and caveats, as well as conclusions and recommendations. Prior to writing the report, a meeting will be held between the research team and USC's decision makers to discuss significant findings, conclusions, and recommendations. This meeting is vital to ensure that Sac's needs are met and that the report is accepted.

Additionally, there will be an oral presentation alongside the written report.

The study aims to define the target population and develop a sample plan in order to assess how employers perceive USC graduates compared to graduates from traditional universities such as The University of West Indies (III), University of Technology (TECH), Northern Caribbean University (NICE), and Micro University College. By conducting this assessment, USC can customize its programming based on regional job market expectations.

The focus of the study is on decision makers and managers at a strategic level who have responsibilities in recruitment,hiring evaluation,and termination of employees.This includes Chief Executive Officers(CEOs), Human Resources Managers Departmental Managers/Directors,and other top-level managers.The text describes these managers as having impressive credentials, extensive experience,a strong reputation,and significant influence in corporate and social circles.The target audience for this study consists of strategic-level managers between the ages of 30 and 55 who graduated from tertiary institutions with degrees from III and TECH if they studied locally. These managers have gained expertise through over fifteen years of experience working in various areas, including positions as Human Resource Managers where they have been involved in hiring decisions and interacting with university graduate employees. Many managers at this level also hold positions on boards of directors and participate in social clubs like Rotary, Kiwanis, Optimist Clubs, and other community-based groups.

To provide decision makers for the target audience, twenty established companies in Jamaica that have been operating for ten years or more will be randomly chosen. The selected companies include Independent Radio Company Limited, A. Benjamin Manufacturing Company Limited, Jamaica Biscuit Company Limited, Lasso Distributors Limited, Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, Restaurants of Jamaica (KEF), Pepsi-Cola Jamaica Bottling Company

Limited, Jamaica Broilers Group Limited... [continuing with the remaining listed companies]. At least ten out of these twenty listed companies will be targeted based on the criteria mentioned above for the sample selection process.
