Crash is an amazing movie if there were any movie to view from a sociological perspective it would definitely be this one. The movie shows the lives of various individuals in different social class the upper middle, middle, and the lower class. Crash starts off by showing two black individuals walking through in what they would like to call a middle class white neighborhood. One of the characters is a lower class thug who believes that everyone white person is against him. The simplest situations he could manipulate them into a negative connotation.

A middle age white couple Sandra bullock and Brendan Fraser walks in their direction upon arrival the white female clinches her husband. Ludacris’s character Anthony sees her movement in goes into a deep discussion stating that she feels threa

ten by two black individuals and further states that they don’t look intimidating so she shouldn’t be afraid. Contradicting everything thing he said in the conversation the two men draws out their weapons proceeding to rob the white couple.

Ironically the husband is a part of justice system so this was an idiotic for the two gentlemen. Anyways comes to find out the wife is a very judgmental person who makes wild assumptions do to a person’s appearance. She makes many ignorant comments about other races. Another character is Cameron is a middle class black man who seems to be living pretty well drives a luxurious car with his beautiful wife. He is one of the few black men who work in his field of directing he and his wife encounters many prejudice, and vile situations throughout the movie.

justify">Crash is filled with loads of sociological perspectives the two black males start showing how conflict perspective can create serious situations such as stealing the car from the couple. Judging from the social interaction of the two clearly they are lacking resources that they want which causes them to participate in this deviant behavior. I would say Ludacris was socialized in an environment where his race was always inferior to the white race. Ludacris has complete social control over his friend peter, because it looks like peter would rather be doing something other than stealing cars and robbing people.

I made this observation based on the conversations that are held between the two. Peter tries to debate with Ludacris about the judgmental assumptions he makes about the white race, but in the end he is influenced and conforms to the foolish life style. Formal social control plays a huge part in the plot of the story. Actor Don Cheadle experience this when an authoritarian leaders offers him a deal if he does what is asked. Cheadle has brother who lives a deviant life of stealing cars; he has been brought up on felony charges for grand larceny and could be sanctioned with life in prison.

The guy wants Cheadle to convict a white man of killing a black male for reasons other than self defense otherwise his brother would never see freedom again. Meanwhile his single mother is dealing with a drug addiction. I thought it was rather interesting that the media would write that in. Statistics did state that women who are in the poor working class play a significant role being

that in most cases they are a single parent. Many things come along with divorce when dealing with children. Sociologists say that many will suffer but some may be better off.

The negative would be the child being more inclined to abuse drugs, not attending college, and fear of intimacy. On the other side a benefit is the child is freed from witnessing conflict on the daily basis in some cases. Some of us hate to see such things about our own race in films but sometimes it’s the truth. Later in the movie a serious incident occurs. Terrance Howard’s character is driving with his wife and they are pulled over due to the description of their car and the formal deviant sexual behavior his wife had performed. Knowing that the car was not the one he was looking for he continued to investigate.

Due to his prestige status he began to break the norms of society by taking advantage of Howard’s wife and performing inappropriate gestures. Howard felt inferior to the authorities so he complied with the authorities by showing obedience. His obedience has a lot to do with the control theory he fears the sanction of going to jail because it is his word against the officer who prestige is a lot higher than Howards. The next night the officer’s partners who witnessed the deviant sexual behavior was driving along a dark rode in a middle class neighborhood.

Just to look back on the situation he tried to stop it all from happening but he had no rank to end the situation. Anyways he sees this guy who happen to

be Don Cheadle’s brother who is also ludacris’s friend walking. Offers him a ride naturally it is shown that black men of his appearance in that neighborhood walking carries the social stigma of being a thug. So the guy gets in his car starts a conversation about country music and hockey, the white saw it as sarcasm so was infuriated demanding he get out the car simply because he felt he was being made fun of.

The black guy tries to explain goes in his pocket to show what was funny and he was shot. The social stigma that goes with the black guys appearance made him seem threatening so the officer felt he was in a dangerous situation resulting in death. Crash is an amazing movie it shows what the media and things like labeling theory can do to the thought process of some people. Race and gender is associated with ones behavior creating prejudice assumptions. Yes I believe appearance has a little to do with how people view you but it does not tell you everything about a person.
