This essay is a personal statement on my personal goals and objectives for completion of this course in the field of pharmacy. This reasons and drive towards the desire to take up the courses is my personal reasons for career development and advancement at my current place of work, coupled with the immense desire I have to help sick people especially those suffering from chronic diseases since I have had an experience of my own with my mother with a chronic disease and I am well aware of how devastating the diseases can be. Also, I study hard so that I can use the knowledge in helping patients more rather than just the normal routine of counting pills.
My main educational goal is to complete the current education program, whereby I am currently enrolled in pharmacy school. I would like to
...receive a rotation site on a pharmacy specialty, especially in instances where I will deal with diabetes and cardiovascular cases to prepare me for residency. I seek to further my education and receive residency, whereby I will have a chance to understand general hospital operations in PGY 1, and receive specialty training in diabetes and cardiovascular in PGY 2. I would relish in in a specialty pharmacy dealing with issues such as diabetes or cardiovascular training. These would be essential for my career as they will offer technical skills received in practice on the job and get to have firsthand experience as well. These are two areas essential in chronic illnesses.
I would also wish to work as a part time floater as well as a full time clinical pharmacist. I am currently working for
retail company known as Safeway Pharmacy, where I intend to keep working for eight hours a day per week as a floater while in my residency. Personal drive and motivation to help people with chronic illnesses comes from a personal experience where I watched my mother suffer with chronic uncontrolled ulcerative colitis. I need to make a difference in the practice with my contribution, where I want to place more emphasis on managing chronic diseases, instead of merely dispensing medication.
