The International Labour Organization (ILO) aims to promote the advancement of decent employment opportunities and improve the economic and labor conditions that contribute to lasting peace, prosperity, and progress. As stated in the ILO's 2009 document on Standard and Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the organization has established certain regulations, including freedom of association for workers (also referred to as "labours"), allowing them to choose whom they associate with, and the right to organize and discuss situations with other relevant parties.
Collaboration among authorities, employers, and workers is integral in collective
bargaining to modify working conditions for direct and indirect parties while effectively preventing the escalation of child labor and forced labor.
Frans Roeselaers, the manager of the ILO's International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour, stated that child labor obstructs development by offering potential gains in productivity and wages when children enter the workforce.
The ILO emphasized in 2004 the significance of treating everyone equally, regardless of age, gender, background or beliefs. The organization acknowledged that several factors can impact work-related difficulties and seeks to prevent and resolve such concerns.
