What is Seventh Day Adventist?
The Seventh-day Adventist Church has a long and storied history. The church was founded in 1863 by James and Ellen White. This American religious movement has been rooted in Biblical teachings and the beliefs of the Millerite movement that followed the Great Disappointment of 1844. It is known for its focus on health, diet, education, spiritual growth, and community service. The Seventh-day Adventist Church holds to many core beliefs such as: belief in God as Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer; belief in salvation through Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice; belief in the Bible as inspired by God; belief that Saturday is a holy day set apart for worship; belief that all people will receive a resurrection from physical death; and finally the expectation of Christ’s soon return to rule over all nations. Seventh-Day Adventists share many common practices with other Protestant Christians including weekly worship services (on Saturdays), prayer meetings during each week, bible study groups during each week, tithing (giving 10% of income to support church ministries), evangelism (spreading the word about Jesus), and baptism by immersion after making an adult commitment to faith. In addition to these traditional Christian practices Seventh-Day Adventists also have some unique beliefs such as keeping a vegetarian diet based on biblical teachings or abstaining from alcohol and tobacco use due to their harmful effects on one’s health. Furthermore they practice health reform which includes eating whole grains unprocessed foods avoiding sugar coffee tea pork products etc They also emphasize preventive care such as getting regular exercise good sleep habits daily devotions etc Finally they are involved in various missionary activities around the world attempting to spread their message of hope peace joy love justice compassion mercy grace and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
