What is New Testament?

The New Testament is a collection of 27 books written by various authors. It is the second part of the Christian Bible and includes four gospels, one account of the Acts of the Apostles, twenty-one epistles or letters, and an Apocalypse or Revelation. Collectively, these books tell the story of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry on earth, as well as his death and resurrection. The New Testament also contains teachings from Jesus that are applicable to Christians today in their spiritual lives.The gospels tell the story of Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection through four different perspectivesthose of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These accounts give us insight into who Jesus was as a person and why he was so important to those who followed him. Additionally, they recount many miracles that he performed throughout his ministry.The book of Acts tells about the time after Jesus’ ascension when his apostles went out preaching about him to spread Christianity throughout Judea and beyond. This book also recounts important events such as Pentecost when God gave them power through His Holy Spirit to preach with boldness in other languages without prior knowledge. The epistles are letters written by various early church leaders such as Paul or Peter addressing issues within churches during their time periodincluding how they were to live according to Christian principlesand offer timeless advice for modern believers in their faith walk too. Finally, Revelation is an account given by John in which he reveals prophecies concerning end times events that are still being discussed today among believers in Christiandom. This book focuses not only on what will happen at this time but also encourages Christians not to lose hope despite difficult circumstances since God will ultimately triumph over evil forces at work in our world today (Revelation 21:1-7). Overall, these 27 books make up what we now call The New Testament; a collection of literature that reveals God’s plan for salvation through His Son Jesus Christ and provides guidance for our daily lives when we seek Him out (2 Timothy 3:16).
