What is Long Lasting Effects?
Bullying is a serious issue that can have lasting effects on the victims and those who witness it. It can cause physical, emotional, and psychological harm to both the bully and the victim. Unfortunately, bullying has become more prevalent in society due to advances in technology that allow for cyberbullying. This form of bullying has become increasingly harder to detect as it often occurs outside of school grounds or other public areas; however, its impact on victims is just as severe. The long-term effects of bullying can be seen in victims for years after the initial incident occurred. Victims may experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, physical health problems such as headaches or stomachaches, difficulty concentrating in school or work environments and poor academic performance. Victims may also struggle with relationships with peers or family members due to feelings of anger or mistrust. These issues can last into adulthood and even follow someone throughout their life if not addressed properly. Witnessing bullying also has long-term effects on those who observe it occurring but do not intervene to stop it from happening. In some cases, this could lead to feelings of guilt or regret for not speaking up against what they saw taking place. They may also experience fear when witnessing similar situations in the future due to a lack of confidence in their ability to confront such behavior if needed again. It is important that we work together as a society to prevent bullying from occurring by educating students about its harmful effects on individuals’ mental health and well-being; so they understand how damaging it can be for everyone involved before things escalate too far out of control.
