This chapter gives an overview of the research study, which includes the short introduction, the statement of the problem, the statement of the hypothesis, the significance and the importance of the study, the scope and delimitations and the definition of terms. Men and women in the present day, as essential to their living necessitate clothes. Clothes, of different designs, and of different functions serve the human race by giving them protection, and by providing them with proper hygiene.

Different clothing brands have now appeared and each giving its customers the comfort and the satisfaction they expect. Parallel to what the needs of people, scientists of different races have come up with substances that cleanse and disinfect clothing and fabric from germs that have the potential of harming the human race. They name it detergents, together wit

h different soaps and surfactants. As a vital factor for the cleansing of fabric in clothing, the researchers have searched for substituent materials that may in turn provide the cleaning action given by the modern detergent.

While loitering around the community a member of the team saw egg shells hanging from orchid vessels. In turn, the researchers have searched for a waste product, commonly unused and usually left away. The team found out that salted egg shells, in a way may serve the detergent’s purpose. A detergent composition which is mainly composed of a salt of basic amino acid of a surface activity-having organic sulfuric acid or organic ester sulfate, and is possessed of an extremely low virulence especially to marine products.

Usually, Borax (Sodium Borate) is the main ingredient of the detergent that serves as the cleaning agent

Its chemical analysis is anhydrous borax, 53. 8 percent; boric acid, 37. 2 percent; sodium oxide, 16. 6 percent; water of crystallization, 46. 2 percent; and chloride, 37 parts per million, which borax can be a cleaning agent of the detergent. So, as the researcher hypothesized egg shell can be substitute for borax as a cleaning agent determining the similarity of the two agents shows that there is no relationship at all. However egg shell olor is caused by pigment deposition during egg formation in the oviduct and can vary according to species and breed, from the more common white or brown to pink or speckled blue-green. In general, chicken breeds with white ear lobes lay white eggs, whereas chickens with red ear lobes lay brown eggs. Birds are known for their hard-shelled eggs. The eggshell is approximately 95% calcium carbonate crystals, which are stabilized by a protein matrix. It is said to be that calcium carbonate is use for cleaning powder and eggshell is mainly made up of 95 percent calcium carbonate.

Statement of the problem This study intends to establish that waste materials such as egg shells can serve as a constituent in the making of an antibacterial detergent. This study aims to prove the effectiveness of salted egg shells as an antibacterial activity in detergents. Statement of the hypothesis If the salt found in the egg shells can affect the antibacterial activity of a detergent, then it can substitute for the cleaning agent found in detergents. Significance of the Study

If the antibacterial activity of detergents is affected by the elements present in the salted egg shells, furthermore if the study proves

to influence the effect of the antibacterial agent positively this study shall benefit different people and corporations present in the community. Such as: Laundry Shops- This may prove evident in the daily circumstantial events in of washers of different ages, especially those who cannot afford the high capital imposed by branded detergents just to suffice for the quality essential for completion of the given task which is washing the laundry for customers.

Local laundry washers- Local washers may apparently gain profits from this research due to the low primary cost of the product made. Housewives and Ordinary people- Again, substantially summing up the benefits listed above, homebodies such as housewives, etc. may once more ease the present need of these people due to the availability at home and its proximity to a person’s abode. Aside from its advantage of being close, it is also homemade henceforth; an ordinary person may make use of the data gathered below.

Future researchers- Teams may also make use of the study conducted by the present group by simply following patent rules and trademark regulations. They may make use of the data gathered by the researchers for completion of their own studies. Scope and Delimitations The study conducted by the researchers primarily focuses on detergents, its cleaning activity and its utilization that affect its cleaning capability. Setting the daily needs of man aside, the researchers also centers their idea on the composition of detergents and the substitution of a waste material that may principally affect the activity of detergents.

Secondarily, the study also focuses on the chemical activity of egg shells in the pulverized form, its effect on detergents when

added as a substitute for borax in a homemade detergent. Lastly, the data found in this research is limited only on the effects of the detergent (product) together with the pulverized shells of salted eggs as one. Definition of Terms Egg Shells- a substitute as cleaning agent in detergent Detergent- the product of substituting egg shells from borax Borax- the product being replaced
