Promoting Digital Literacy Through Campus Journalism Essay Example
The Department of Education aims to nurture an adept generation in digital literacy, capable of influencing the minds of young Filipinos. Campus journalism plays a significant role in achieving this objective, as it expects aspiring journalists to guide their peers through their school publications and viewpoints. DepEd organized a gathering for young journalists from across the Philippines in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on April 9th-13th, 2012 to promote digital literacy through campus journalism.
In today's fast-paced technological world, people are seeking opportunities that challenge them and provide new discoveries. The internet has made practical information about various career paths easily accessible. This helps bridge the gap in global information and promotes digital literacy by preparing individuals who wish to pursue lifelong learning to remain knowledgeable and competitive.

Additionally, this fosters a curiosity for upcoming technologies and a continual thirst for knowledge. In terms of global competitiveness, the Philippines' advantage lies in the superior quality of its workforce. By prioritizing digital literacy, Filipinos are equipped to compete on a global scale.
Undoubtedly, technology has made our tasks simpler, more productive, and efficient. Nevertheless, what matters most is our willingness to embrace change and employ technologies to extract significant and positive outputs from the information
we provide. As campus journalists, it is not only our responsibility to disseminate unbiased news and opinions but also to contribute to shaping a promising future. The responsibility of creating a new era rests on our shoulders as campus scribes.
