The scary heights of rides is one example of my fear considering the first time I went on one of the fastest and tallest roller coasters.
It was a hot summer day in 2010. My sisters, my parents and I were on our way to Canada's Wonderland. My youngest sister loves to talk about everything especially when it Comes to something she is very excited about. The "are we there yet? " and "hurry up I am bored sitting back here" get really annoying after a while.
The one subject she would not stop talking about, was how much she wanted to go on the roller coasters. Let my stomach start to ache as she said the "r" word. " My friend Caddis said she liked the big roller coaster there" she mentioned so excitedly.
...I was definitely not interested in that particular subject. After our 1 hour drive of sitting in a crowded truck with my two annoying sisters we arrived at Canada's Wonderland.
I looked up and I could see the top of the roller coaster. It looked to be getting taller and taller the more I looked at it. My mom got me my wrist band and we walked into the park. There were people every. Veer and lines as long as the Great
Wall of China. Well in my eyes they looked that long.
I could see in the distance people getting off the 'Night Mare' ride. They could barely stand. Some kid ran straight to the garbage can and threw up. Was hoping that was not going to be me later that day.
"Lets go on the loopy loo
ride over there" my sister shouted over the noise of everyone talking. "How about we start on a slow ride" said calmly and happily to make it sound like was not scared even though I really was. Everyone agreed on the slow ride first so we would be prepared for the faster and bigger rides. Started on the carousel because it was slow and had the shortest line. Standing in that line was a relief to me because I did not have to go on the roller coaster yet.
As we got on the carousel, my sister got mad at me for taking the horse she wanted to sit on. I traded her horses and then just had the biggest smile on her face I had ever seen. We started to move and it was calm, relaxing and I did not have to worry about throwing up yet. " We are going on the Leviathan roller coaster next" my sister said very sternly. I knew that was the biggest roller coaster here.
My heart started to beat faster and faster as got off the carousel and started walking towards the Leviathan. I could hear the screams and see the roller coaster moving around in circles three times. I felt the heat hitting my head and causing my stomach to feel squeeze. My knees started to shake and everyone looked at me as felt the cold sweat run down my forehead and hit the ground.
We moved up the line and ended up at the very front of the line. We were next to go on after the 3 minute roller coaster went around. I walked
up the stairs towards the roller coaster slowly.
Sit in the front center of the coaster please mama" the man running the roller coaster said as he guided me to the very front of the roller coaster.
I think he really wants to scare me and I think he knows about my fear so he decided to put me in the very front of the roller coaster. I felt like I was being put onto one of those shows where they make fun of scared people. I could not feel anything at that point in time but fear. My sister looked at me with a guilty smirk on her face. The bars came down on to my legs and that was all I had to hold onto.
