The Counter-reformations that supported ars perfecta were highly conservative and somehow outdated when compared to newer musical innovations. Ars perfecta required masses to be celebrated with singing and organ. However, the sixteenth century Catholic Church seems to have been evolutionarily affected and demanded concerted motets or psalms during mass. Secondly, early publications were not specific in instrumental performances. This could be one of the reasons why the Roman Catholic abandoned ars perfecta to give room for new musical styles. Giovanni Gabrieli played a significant role in ars perfecta as he dwelled in his Uncle Andrea Gabrieli’s place at St. Mark’s. He was creative in composing sacred symphonies by adhering to the new concerto ideas that were greatly influenced by the Greek harmonious existence of sounding things.
