Job satisfaction refers to how the employee is contented with the kind of job he or she is doing. Job satisfaction is in most cases determined by making comparison between the prior expectations of an employee about the job and the actual job experience. It is related with the emotions and the beliefs that employees have concerning their job and work. This paper is going to discuss job and professional satisfaction among the nurses and the factors that contribute to the satisfaction.
To examine job satisfaction level of nursing professionals in American hospitals and the factors influencing the satisfaction.
This study was carried out in three hospitals among thirty hospitals in America. The nurses of these hospitals represented 25% and 400 employees that were included in the study represented 4% of all the employees in nursing in American hospitals (Chung et al, 2012). In the study, one str
uctured survey questionnaire was directed to the employees including the leaders. The correlation between the independent variables such as number of employed years, age, leaders’ behavior and characteristics of the leaders and the dependent variable like coworkers, pay, the management and job satisfaction was determined (Chung et al, 2012).
The results indicated a significant difference in between the employees and the leaders. The leaders of the nurses had a higher satisfaction as compared to the nurses (Chung et al, 2012). The leaders were also superior in organization management, their pay, security, decision making ability and high job satisfaction levels.
The nurse employees and the leaders outlined some factors that influence their job satisfaction; the workplace relations were good, good payment, they also indicated that there were opportunities for promotion, the encouragement o
the superiors for work, challenges in the profession and finally freedom at work connected and independence among the employees (Chung et al, 2012).
However, sample size can be influenced by some factors like; size of the population. Determine what number of people fit the demographic. The second factor is the margin error; decide on the amount of the error to allow for the sample (Chung et al, 2012). Thirdly, confidence level; determine the confidence you want to use so as the mean is within the chosen confidence.
Finally, in any organization, employees who are satisfied play significant role for the success of that organization. It is crucial that the health care organizations take in mind the importance of job satisfaction of the employees. Motivating employees with good pay, promotion, good environment to work in and free time will ensure their satisfaction.
