Edutainment, also known as educational entertainment or entertainment-education, is an art form that utilizes entertainment for educational purposes. The term "edutaining" was coined by Peter Catalanotto as he traveled the United States teaching schoolchildren in an entertaining way about writing and illustration instead of the traditional textbook style. Edutainment incorporates social interaction and emotional bonding to embed lifelong lessons. Successful edutainment uses facial expressions, object lessons, television or DVD programs, funny stories with a point, and other entertaining methods of learning to make education engaging and amusing. However, each student has a preferred learning style regardless of their background, age, social status, or economic situation.
