Once, Jim Valvano made a notable statement, "My father's faith in me was the most precious present I've ever gotten." For me, my dad is the most remarkable person who has ever existed. My admiration for him primarily stems from his unwavering support during my hardest periods and his trust in my abilities even when I doubted myself. Body

I. My desire to pay tribute to my father is primarily rooted in his unwavering support and constant availability during my toughest times. A. Growing up, I was under the impression that earning a university degree was an absolute requirement, a topic which we did not generally question or debate; it existed as an implied obligation. Consequently, when the moment came for me to pick a place of higher education, UMD emerged as my selection. Even thoug

h I exhibited lackluster enthusiasm towards learning and average performance at best, I still hoped for approval from my father. The shift from high school to college life in the first year proved significantly challenging and unlike anything else I had ever faced before. Although I braced myself for difficulties, their scale caught me off guard and left me feeling swamped for the following three years as I barely maintained above a 2.0 GPA despite genuinely striving not just to pass compulsory classes needed for graduation but also improve my overall academic achievement.

attempt to salvage my grades and improve my GPA, I chose to redo some classes. My father provided unwavering support during this challenging period. Unfortunately, even these steps failed to uplift my grades resulting in me being expelled from university - a memory that still brings distress today. After thoughtful reflection, I concluded UMD wasn't suitable for me and it was necessary to explore other alternatives. During this transition period too, my father remained supportive; he stood beside me unconditionally and welcomed me home when needed. He not only gave emotional assistance but also directed me towards MCTC as an approach to better develop my academic standing.

II. The second reason to pay tribute to my father is his unyielding faith in me. A. My father has been a constant pillar of support throughout my life, always ready for conversation regardless of the circumstances. He constantly underscored my capabilities and maintained that I can realize any aspiration if I devote myself fully to it. This notion echoes back to the previous point about educational choices, emphasizing that such decisions were ultimately in my hands.

B. I regard my dad as one of my most intimate friends. While it's not typical for kids to treasure their moments with their parents, I've constantly maintained a profound and personal connection with both my mom and dad.

Ultimately, it is to my dad, Mike Ferris, that I extend my deep respect at this moment. My esteem for him is infinite as he embodies the very essence of an exceptional father. The main factors contributing to my reverence for him include his unwavering support during a critical

juncture in my life and his consistent faith in me regardless of circumstances. This brings to mind Enid Bagnold's insightful quote, "A father is always turning his child into a little woman. And when she becomes a woman he makes her feel like a child again."
