So, what exactly is child labor? Full-time work of children under the age of fourteen in situations that are damaging to health, education, or moral development for pay or no pay. Who’s bothered about this? Certainly not me! Am I taking action? Heck no! I don’t know about you, but child labor just might be the best thing that has ever happened to the world. If you don’t believe me just ask a factory owner, I’m sure they will agree and have a big smile on their face when they tell you why they use it!
There are so many great benefits of being a child laborer, running a business with child laborers, and being on the receiving end of things made by child laborers. The child laborer stays away from the streets, helps their family
...meet their survival needs, doesn’t have to dig for food in garbage’s, and gets paid. A low wage, but gets paid! The person running the child labor business doesn’t have to pay a high wage for the child laborers because the children don’t go to school and wouldn’t know how much they are getting paid. All they would know is that they are working to survive.
Another benefit is that children’s bones and ligaments don’t fully develop until they are an adult, so if they get injured they will heal quickly compared to that of an adult worker. As for what child labor brings us, the list is endless. A whole range of goods such as cheap skirts, shirts, toys, matches, textiles, and hand-knotted carpets which are very popular in North America. Children are already
forced to go to school by parents and the government. There’s also that added pressure to succeed, truth be told, a lot of kids are not going to go to a four year college or university.
So what is the point of spending thousands of dollars on education and investing in tomorrow’s leaders? It’s absolutely Ludacris! Why not use the money to open factories and mines to shove their uneducated minds in there because all most kids can think about these days is making the big bucks but aren’t interested in the education associated with it. Just imagine if children start working at a young age. They can reach adult maturity quicker and can support themselves rather than relying on someone.
This would be better than educating them because the reason for education is to help people eventually find a job and make a living. Why not just start them young? As they keep maturing why don’t everyone just start getting married at sixteen and seventeen and start popping kids left and right? Just like the good old days. Do you see the problem with this? Neither do I! More kids to raise and to turn into child laborers. And you just keep repeating the process over and over again. The beautiful part is that all the children will know is work, work, and more work!
Maybe toss in a little English class, the reason is because English is the primary language spoken in the western world and most goods produced by child labor goes to the western world. Western companies reduce their cost of production by sending their goods overseas to
be assembled by desperate children to work for very cheap wages, which produces profit for them. Owners with a business associated with child labor would want to communicate and check on the child laborers to make sure goods are being produced properly. Governments and organizations should stop working towards making it illegal for child laborers to earn an honest living.
Child labor is an economic necessity. I believe that child labor has a place in the world economy. Organizations shouldn’t be spending their time and money fighting to abolish child labor but rather work alongside it. They need to be realistic that child laborers don’t need the opportunity to pull themselves out of poverty when they can just work to support themselves. Who cares about education? Who needs doctors and teachers of the future? It’s not like child labor is morally wrong… Satirical Child Labor Essay Sam Mike English B30 Nutana Collegiate Institute Ms. Bachiu Monday May 21, 2013
