John Foppe is a successful man who owns a thriving international training company aimed at motivating leaders and workers to reach their full potential. He has worked with renowned international companies such as Fortis, UniCredit, GE, and more. In addition, he has authored a book titled “What’s Your Excuse?” which has been translated into six languages worldwide. While these achievements are impressive for any intelligent individual in a developed country, what sets him apart is the fact that he lacks upper extremities. He was born without arms.

Watching the video about John Foppe's life in our class deeply affected me. I was inspired by how he developed a positive perspective, gained independence, and achieved success despite facing challenges. It made me reflect on my own tendency to be pessimisti

Despite not having any physical disabilities, I possess numerous negative thoughts and attitudes that require improvement. Nevertheless, I believe that these challenges will ultimately propel me towards becoming the man of my dreams. Within my school environment, my peers also lack inspiration, motivation, and a positive outlook on assigned tasks. They often doubt their own abilities before even starting. If they were able to witness or read about John Foppe, perhaps they would find the inspiration they seek. Could it be that passivity, lack of motivation, and low self-confidence are hereditary afflictions affecting all Filipinos?

This phenomenon is not exclusive to my workplace; it is likely prevalent in other places too. Despite potential excuses, I appreciate the existence of individuals like John Foppe who offer inspiration universally. Foppe serves as a reminder that every individual has the ability to reach their maximum potential and have self-belief. By inspiring and motivating ourselves, we can unlock our inner potential.

I will not achieve greatness like him, but I will emulate his ability to overcome disabilities by shifting negative thoughts to positive views. Similarly, I will transform self-pity into praise and use my challenging life story as inspiration to achieve more. Like John Foppe, I will believe that if I think I can, I can accomplish great things and find my place in the world.
